Gearing Question

[:1]I know the general breakdown of Gear, BIS lists etc etc. Heres my dilemma, and asking for advice. I'm currently in a guild that is 6/7 heroic in firelands, with very little chance at killing heroic Rags, meaning the heroic helmet is out of the question. I have the heroic helmet off of heroic Lord Ryolith (hood of rampant distain). I also have the 378 tier helmet to get my 4 piece. My current off piece is gloves I have the heroic gloves from Shannox (gloves of dissolving smoke). I'm currently wearing the 378 tier + gloves of dissolving smoke, I am looking as possibly changing to the tier gloves, and wearing the hood of rampant distain, for the additional armor, agility, stamina and dodge gain. The problem is I lose a little bit of crit *not much like 30, but I outright lose 235 mastery.*

So I guess my dilemma is this:

Double Heroic Items swapping my heroic hood of rampant distain, with a pair of heroic tier gloves.

VS

378 helmet + heroic gloves, which are better for overall itemization for mastery/crit, but i lose about 80 some armor, 40-50 agi, 60 stam, etc etc.

Any advice is appreciated

Thanks

Bump
Leave it be imo. I would not take a lower itemlevel piece unless I need to absolutely reach a requirement. You have your 4pc and a nice OS 391 helm. You're not at any disadvantage not swapping to tier reg helm and OS gloves.

If mastery worries you then swap out the scales trinket...

Yah this is what I was thinking, I actually have the mastery trinket too, depending on fight i swap trinkets. Fluid Death/beth Trinket/scales of life, my 3 trinkets i swap in that spot.

Thanks for your input.

391 offset helm, 391 tier gloves > 378 tier helm, 391 offset gloves

Another Bear Trinket Question

[:1]I tank heroic 5-mans pretty frequently and do LFR just about every week as cat.

I've been tanking using Veil of Lies and Fire of the Deep but last week I picked up Wrath of Unchaining.

Should I be using Wrath of Unchaining to tank with? If so, which trinket should I replace with it?

Thanks in advance for any helpful suggestions.
Replace the stamina trinket, you really don't need the extra stamina for the content you say you focus on.
Hmm look into getting a fluid death. to repalce fire of the deep:)
oh keep veil of lies arround never know if you ever decied to go raiding this xpac having a stam trinkit or 2 really helps alot:)

I run Wrath of Unchaining and either the Arrow or Fire of the Deeps depending on my healer. If I'm comfortable or it's a friend I switch out for all Agility trinkets and even put on some cat gear, if after the first pull I have almost died I will switch some stuff out for max survivability.

Heroic Rag (Resto)

[:1]Any of you had any luck solo healing it yet?

If not, how far have you gotten?

Just curious, I really want to do it.
No one?
I'm 90% positive it's simply not possible on 25m. I've never actually done 10m FL, so I can't really say anything about that.

2005 BP. and its true effictiveness in 4.3

[:1]The Nerf to WG seems to be pretty substantial, although I was still competitive my numbers weren't quite as high as they previously were, however when I altered my healing to a more retro style of hardcore rejuving the raid, I saw some pretty significant results. However, although mana is not really an issue when following a conservative approach it does seem to become a slight issue when hardcore rejuving. With these issues in mind, I was thinking that undergoing the 2005 haste breakpoint might not be such a bad thing, due to the nerf on WG. Instead we could hover around the 1422 haste breakpoint and instead look to maximize mastery/spirit as more of a priority to allow for a harder rejuv spamming style, much like the mindlessly powerful style we used during most of wrath. With the scale in gear in 4.3,+ adding blessing of grove/genesis if not already included in spec we might see some pretty high thoroughput that WG might not be able to provide. Also by foregoing the 2005 haste cap, we should be able to maintain a high crit/mastery base while going out of the 1900-2100 spirit zone most of us seem to be in and head to a 2400-2500 spirit zone that will allow for much harder rejuv spam. What do you guys think? Again these are just thoughts on my mind, so any ur a dumb**** comments aren't necessary. I realize I left out alot of components about the 2005 haste cap like its effect on efflo, just wanted to see other opinion on the subject. Thanks!
I have not even had a chance to play this char yet since the patch. I dont mind saying im scared to death what this did to healing. I understand your concern is raid heals, and going back to rejuv blankets on the raid is not something I would think viable in this druid heal model. But I dont know with the right gear and stats I suppose it could work out.

My concern is pvp, if this nerf is as bad as I think it is, then that will weaken rdruids even more.
I also saw rejuv overtaking WG in healing done in our raid last night. Rejuv has always been one of our top heals on the meter, but I agree, the nerf hit hard this time. With that last extra tick on WG hitting for less than 1k heals (since each subsequent tick decays), I'm not sure I should keep my 2005 haste either.

I did find myself spamming Rejuv more and using the 30% haste from that to spam nourish to take up the slack. I'm seriously considering reforging to what you just said- more mastery and crit- and seeing how that works out.

2005 haste is also a breakpoint for efflor and rejuv with nature's grace. It's still worth keeping 2005. Spirit will never be more effective than mastery in terms of healing done. Wild growth is still better hpct than everything but efflor and tranquility. Nothing has changed for us this tier in terms of gearing or spell selection.

SRS Talk about...

[:1]Why are druids able to use fist weapons? We can't duel-wield and there is not such thing as a main-hand healing fist weapon. GIVE druid duel-wield(at least for fist weapons)... I mean come on... we use our paws more than anyone.
Wraith Strike
An old mechanic/aspect from Classic WoW. Forget it and move on.

Can we get some new looks?

[:1]I was just thinking, why is it that when a feral (Tank) changes into bear form it looks JUST LIKE the bear form of a Resto Druid?

How about Guardian, coming the next expansion, be given a new model for their bear.

When you spec into Guardian, your bear form instantly becomes Armored Bear Form.

Feral could have a new look for Cat form as well.

Balance has the Moonkin to differentiate them from other druids, Resto gets Tree Form (Which should be permanent if they wish like the old days. Possibly with a glyph to turn off your tree form for PvP reasons.)

To many times I see Cat specced Feral Druids out trying to tank a HoT. Which becomes pretty tough to heal through on my healers many times. Would be nice to tell RIGHT OFF THE BAT, what spec a druid is.

Not to mention, would just be awesome tanking with an Armored Bear Model!

Heirloom Weapon enchant for pvp

[:1]Crusader or Agi? Roughly 80% of my leveling is in BG's.

Note: I'm leaning towards Crusader because I am starting a pally who will be sharing the hammer.

agi

Am I ready for Dragon Soul?

[:1]My armory is all up to date....

I'll take all tips/advice.

Thanks all :)
yes why would'nt you be? I tanked it at ilevel 372 with no problems and i had no enchants at all
In an actual 10 man?
i noticed you could reforge some more crit/hit into dodge. and yes you could tank normal DS10 as long as the rest of your group is good too and you know what youre doing.

also enchant your crap to make life a little easier.
Hit isn't important at all? I'm trying to stay capped :o
For a tank, no. Expertise is important if anything. Generally it goes get to expertise cap if you have threat issues. If not then reforge to dodge.
Also, your relic is a strength one.... with parry no less! Please ditch it for the agility one, you'll get more dodge from agility+reforging, as well as more attack power for stronger SD procs, and more crit for more SD procs. There is never any reason to use a strength piece when you can get an agility one that's just as good.
I would learn the mechanics through LFR before I did it normal. your gear should be fine for LFR.

and Gray wind is correct about hit. Hit used to be important to ensure our interrupts and taunts always landed but now they can't miss, so hit just is a minor increase to dps up to but not beyond cap, expertise is also an increase in dps up to cap (and both increase threat only in as much as they increase dps)

the static agility on Arrow of time is nice but a random haste proc is totally lame for a bear. It's great for a cat but lame for a bear.

My haste completely sucks.

[:1]I swear, on every piece of gear that doesn't have haste on it, I reforge to haste. I didn't think I had that many pieces without haste, but looking at people with the same ilvl as me, it seems as if they have nearly 800 more haste than me.

Do I have the absolute worst balance gear in the world? Could my lack of haste be affecting my dps/how many ticks my dots have?

I just feel like I'm not doing that great this patch, compared to everyone else. And I'm wondering if it is because of the gear I've chosen and if I should try to go with more gear that has haste this patch.
It looks like just the gear choices you have atm.

And to answer your question....yes. The lack of haste COULD be affecting how many ticks the dots have. I don't know the 'breakpoints' though, so I couldn't tell you if you are hitting any certain one or not. I myself think I might have too much haste.

Edit: From the sticky.....

Haste
This is our best secondary stat for the time being. All other secondary stats should be reforged into haste when possible (assuming you are hit capped).

128.05 haste rating = 1% spell haste

Haste breakpoints where we gain extra DoT ticks (3/3 Genesis and Moonkin Form):
11th tick - 1423
12th tick - 2776 - 743 w/NG
13th tick - 4139 - 1929 w/NG
14th tick - 5486 - 3101 w/NG

>>>Why you should do anything possible to get Dark Intent from your local warlock.
With Dark Intent, the above numbers change to look like this:
12th tick - 2322 - 349 w/NG
13th tick - 3646 - 1500 w/NG
14th tick - 4954 - 2637 w/NG
Your haste rating makes me sad :(
Every time you have to reforge an item to haste, that item is 60% down on whatever haste it could have:

Your helm is horrid, imagine if you had the one from Mannoroth - 252 haste on that (even if the 2nd stat is crit) that'd be 190 additional haste over what you've got atm

That's the kind of example in how your gear lacks haste.

Helm, Neck, Wrist, Legs, Ring 2, OH are all missing haste on them. If one item can add 150 haste, that's a potential 900 haste you're missing.

Some of those might be hard to get haste on, such as neck unless you get a DS/VP one, but the rest:
Helm - Mannoroth (WoE)
Wrist - BoE from the ah (Glowing Wing Bracers)
Legs - Asira (HoT)
Ring 2 - There are 2 haste rings from the quest line, one is hit and the other spirit with haste
OH - I dont believe good OH's have haste on them, so this is going to be like the neck until you learn to embrace staves and leave rubbishy one handers to shamadins.

Overall, get your gear sorted before worrying about dps.

Am I ready for PVE - and where?

[:1]Having done almost no PVE, I am feeling like I want to do a little so I can see what the LFR stuff is like. My question is, what of my gear do i need to change in order to get into pve?

I prefer to be in a DPS role, but I have experience and could tank as well. This is pretty much all the "PvE" gear that I have - as you can see only the 2 trinkets are pure pve. I know that for feral since we have similar stats pvp gear will work in a pinch, but what role would it be easier for me to get into and which of my gear do I need to change?
you'd be okay for HOT heroics as DPS. You'd be a very squishy Bear, though.
As for LFR, if you have the gear go ahead and queue. I was in one the other day with a Mage that didn't break 5k dps on a single boss and nobody cared. So as long as you don't manage to royally screw things up you will be fine.
Thanks for the replies, and yeah. The main thing is that I don't want to be a burden on the rest of my group/raid.

I figure i'll start out gearing for DPS and then I can reforge/regem/reglyph to tank as needed. So, what sort of DPS should I be pulling? - I want to start with regular heroics before moving on to HoT heroics.

Is there a general iLvL that is a cutoff where my pvp gear is better? (factoring in the wasted resil stat)
::Yikes! Wall incoming, that must have happened when I wasn't looking, important points are bolded::

Having PvP gear in LFR should be no problem, as long as you have a halfway-decent desire to do well. Belive me, that won't be what the raid will be worried about. HoT can be a little . . . scarier, I suppose, to just jump feetfirst into, but that's mostly because more weight is on each player's shoulders. Now, I'm speaking as a Balance that hasn't played (broken computer) for a week or two, so take any numbers I throw out with a grain of salt.

The DPS I saw in HoT heroics (PuG) seemed to run the gamut from around 10k-30k --on non-gimmick encounters, that is-- but the general rule of things dying before the tank applies. If everyone in the group is ~17k or above, you'll do just fine. The instances aren't too difficult for an aware group, and there's not too many huge DPS checks from what I can recall, so low numbers will just drag things out and make your healer/tank sweat a bit. If you're not topping charts, just volunteer to handle mechanics/interrupts (and follow through, of course), and it should be smooth sailing.

As far as gearing goes, you'll love how often Agility leather drops in HoT (at least it seemed to when I was looking for Int leather), so I'd suggest finding some guaranteed solid players to run with until you get to where you're comfortable with ilvl, as taking chances with LFD can be a little sketchy. In my view, don't stick around in the regular heroics any longer than you needto from a gear standpoint, unless you enjoy them, in which case it's no biggie.

And Tagartou is absolutely correct, by the way, don't be afraid of LFR. Nothing in Seige should give the group trouble, with possible exception of the rainbow slimes, and the experience/gear is generally worth the time you put into it.

In summation, don't worry about starting PvE too much. As long as your rotation is under your fingers comfortably, the DPS will be where it needs to be.
I just healed a group through WoE that only had 10k DPS for all 3 DPS, and about 10k for the tank (with the crit buff) so meh, doable. Although the damage on Azshara was outright frightening (the mind control can evidently play the Priest better than the Priest can play himself).

Regarding Haste Break Points for Balance

[:1]So my main spec is resto, and it is true for that haste is the best stat when you can reach a haste break point, but when you cannot to reach said break point, it becomes the worst throughput stat. Does this hold true for balance? or is it strictly hit to cap>haste>mastery>crit all the time? I checked on the balance sticky, however it didn't really say anything about in between breakpoints.
ATM balance haste can never be capped :D So get as much as possible!

Ok, I can give resto a try....

[:1]....and fall flat on my face.

After a long break I thought I'd give this character a try again. He had previously been specced and geared (poorly) for feral. Looking to breathe some new life into him I thought I'd give resto a look-see.

Before anyone says anything, yes: I know my gear is horrendous (some level 80 items 4tl) and incomplete. Gear is the least of my concerns at the moment.

I've read the great guides folks have put out and I get the main concepts. The problem I am running into is that I seem to have more heals than fingers to accurately cast them with on the fly. I am pretty familiar with Shammy healing and going from that to this is like a '85 Chevy to a finely-tuned race car that I have no business driving.

With the standard WASD movement setup, how do you good druids prioritize the nearby keys?
I actually didn't.

When I was resto, I used Healbot (or Clique, when Healbot was broken & vice versa) to map all spells to 4 mouse (left, right, mid, and a side one) buttons and any combination of Ctrl, Alt, and Shift.

(As an example, some of my setup:
LB = button 4 (the side button) with no modifiers,
WG = Shift + left click,
Nourish = Alt + left click,
Regrowth = Ctrl + left click,
Rejuve = middle button w/ no modifiers,
Swift Mend = middle button + Shift,
Cleanse = right click with no modifiers or with Ctrl Mod (I had to use Ctrl when I swapped to Clique),
BR = Ctrl + right click,
Innervate = Alt + right click,
Cyclone = Ctrl + button 4.... etc.)

It's quite a different playstyle if you're used to button-healing (I was for years, primarily because I used to heal in feral spec Vanilla through BC, so I didn't have access to all the toys. :P), but once you get used to it, it's a LOT faster, I've found. It also freed up my hands (since they're right in the area anyway) for WASD movement.

Clique is a bit more customizable, so that you can do things like use the caps key or something if you wanted. Healbot only deals with Shift, Alt, Ctrl, and buttons. Depending on your UI, you can use the UI you have with Clique, whereas Healbot gives you another set of bars. I hated the default UI before I got ElvUI, so I liked Healbot then... I'm becoming more partial to Clique now tho.

I'm full feral now (Hated the Cata healing changes from HOTs to straight heals), but I still use those keybinds. :)
Rewatch is the best healing mod for a Druid.
no alt click or ctrl click combinations to remember.
Are you going to PVP or PVE mostly? That may make a difference in how you choose to organize your spells.

The PVP setup I currently use utilizes mouseover macros that combine my healing spells and damage spells to my mouse buttons. For example, mouse button 1 casts rejuvenation on a friendly mouseover target or a friendly target in focus. If no one is under my cursor or currently in focus it heals me. Holding shift and pressing mouse button 1 casts moonfire on enemies who are focused on or under my cursor.

This setup is handy because you can keep focus on a main target for heals or dps, and then fire off spot heals or dots with mouseover on other temporary targets. You can also target yourself with mouseover on your character or on unit frames to prevent losing focus.

I use a pretty simple gaming mouse that cost $30. It has 5 extra buttons, and that takes care of all my basic heals and attacks. Keys 1 - 4 and R & F are hotkeyed for tranq, faerie fire, barkskin etc. This requires a few keys to be unbound and the Clique add on so you can target Unit Frames with all the mouse buttons.

I can share my macros if you're interested in a similar set up,

Cyprus
If youre using a naga (as I am) these settings work for me.
Basically I set up all my healers in the same way.

Because the naga is set out in a pattern of:
123
456
789

I have my mains heals above eachother. Eg 1= Nourish then 4=Healing tough. And then 2 = Lifebloom and 5= Rejuv.

I try to keep them in a similar position so I have my hots in a row and my main heals in another row. I also use QER and then have some Shift + 1-9 macros. Hope it helps!
I walk with my arrow keys. It's a habit I have not been able to break myself of in seven years of playing. I can't 'do it. I use shift, control, and alt to modify mouse clicks in clique to cast heals, and I *gasp* click certain things like innervate and rebirth because I want to make damn sure I only use them when I really want to.

Funnily, on my laptop I DO use WASD to walk... so I don't know. I'm weird.
I use mouseover macros for healing with Grid.

1= Wild Growth
2= Lifebloom
3= Rejuv
4=Swiftmend
5=Regrowth
Shift + 1 = Nourish
Shift + 2 = Healing Touch
Shift + 3 = Nature's swiftness

Innervate/Rebirth/a few others are a click because I'm afraid of fat-fingering them.

And then if I want to throw out some dps, I use alt modifiers.

Cleanse and thorns are triggered through click. Shift Left Click and Shift Right click. And cyclone/hibernate are another mouse bind, but I dont remember which ones.
I use the following key binds with my regular 4 button mouse + wheel.

q,e,r,f,c
Shift + q,e,r,f,c
12345
mw up, mw down, m4, m3, mw push
Shift + mw up, mw down, m4, m3, mw push

My new challenge is adding new key binds for arena (focus and targeting macros).

That gives me about 25 buttons.
Make sure your heals + root + cyclone are not on the bar that gets stance shifted.
You want your heals + human form stuff always available so that you don't have to shift OUT to cast.
macros, macros, macros. i have almost all of my heals on 1-4 with a shift modifier, and a few more bound to mouse buttons.

My setup:

1- casts RG/HT on friendlies (mouseover as well), or wrath/starfire if targeting an enemy. shift to switch between the two

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover, help, modifier:shift]Regrowth; [@mouseover, help]Healing Touch; [harm, modifier:shift] Wrath; [harm] Starfire;[modifier:shift] Regrowth; Healing Touch;

2- casts RJ/SM on friendlies (mouseover as well), or my dots on enemies. shift to switch between the two

#showtooltip
/cast [@mouseover, help, modifier:shift]Swiftmend; [@mouseover, help]Rejuvenation; [harm, modifier:shift] Insect Swarm; [harm] Moonfire;[modifier:shift] Swiftmend; Rejuvenation;

3 is a similar macro with Nourish/LB, 4 is WG, and 5 is decurse. i have a NS+HT macro on a mouse button, innervate on another.

i never have to reach further than 5 on any fight for any heal with the exception of Tranq, which i have set far out of the way to prevent misclicks :)
I have 1-5, f, c, f, z, x, t, and ` keybound, and then shift+all those keybound. I also have several spells bound to my mouse buttons. :)

Basically everything has a mouseover macro, and ctrl 1-5 are forms.

Growl Macro

[:1]I'm currently leveling up a Bear tank and was thinking of trying out the hybrid bear tank. Since I was short on hotkeys, I was looking for a macro that would switch me into Bear from Cat and growl. I've tried something like:
#showtooltip
/cast [nostance:1] Bear Form(Shapeshift)
/cast Growl

but it doesn't work.

Is it even possible or am I missing something?
Not by a WoW install to try it, but one of these should work, both will require you to hit the button twice

#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=5 !Bear Form, Growl

OR

#showtooltip Growl
/cast !Bear Form
/cast Growl
Thanks for the fast reply!

So there's no macro that would work with one press?

I would double check the spelling and/or just shift-click from your spell book.
Thanks for the fast reply!

So there's no macro that would work with one press?

Nope. If it triggers a global cooldown, expect to press it for each one it triggers.

If you are in Bear, you will only trigger one for Growl. If you're coming from any other form, expect two key presses.

Try this one:

#showtooltip
/cast [nostance:1] Bear Form; Growl
I guess I'll have to press it twice.

Thanks everyone for the help!
Be sure its a macro you can spam.- Otherwise you can macro out of your bear form... not good.
I dont remember my macro very well but it was like the shown above:

#showtooltip
/cast [stance:1] Growl; Bear Form

I dont remember my macro very well but it was like the shown above:

#showtooltip
/cast [stance:1] Growl; Bear Form
adding an ! before Bear Form should handle that, but your stance modifier should also do the trick.
The macro I posted is spammable, as well as the one Roncagliolo posted.

If Druids had other forms for other classes..

[:1]Let me explain.

If Druids had a form that let them mimic any other class in the game, the way they do with Bear->Warrior and Cat->Rogue, what do you think they'd be? Can be any thing a Druid might ever turn into.

Heres my list:

Bat->Warlock--I figured Cloth classes should turn into winged things, to stick with the Druids of the Talon.

Plague Bear-> Death Knight--Dead Bear=Dead Warrior, simple enough

???->Paladin

Lion->Hunter--King of the Jungle, thought it'd fit.

???->Priest

???->Mage

Wolf->Shaman--This ones debatable. I never really understood what wolves had to do with elements except for the fact that Orcs had Lo'gosh.

Monkey->Monk--Obvious reasons.

No idea for the holy classes. I don't know what creatures could really represent them.

Opening Rotation Help!

[:1]Hello, my friend who plays a sub rogue and I enjoy doing 2's. I was wondering what should be our opening strategy against heal/dps and dps/dps comps. At the moment we are usually, for dps/heals, opening up on the dps and CC'ing the heals. He starts with sap, I open up on dps then he joins me on the dps. Once sap is done he blinds and jumps back on dps. Once blind is over or if he has trinketed by now, Ill throw a cyclone on him. This usually works pretty well but I was wondering if there were some better strats we could be implementing. Thanks in advance! :)

The only thing I can add is cloning a second time for a 3 sec cc, then getting next to them and bash them.

Your rogue friend can also pop shadow dance if not already to get another sap off if somehow the healer has not been put in combat yet.

thanks for that... also i just thought of something that might work... not sure how smokebomb really works but if he pops it off after my second cyclone while our kill target is in the smoke... the heals won't be able to heal him right?
Correct, your rogue should be popping smoke bomb while your kill target is under a full KS, the healer will have to run into the smoke to heal him.

Usually smoke bomb is combined with the burst macro (Shadowdance + trinkets)

Ok sounds good! Thanks :)

If your tower gets attacked, jump out of the cannon and hop off the tower. Run to the other tower, climb it, and hop in a cannon.

I got about 35 HKs on my first go.
Go resto...
Profit?

I have no idea, didn't try this on my feral last year, but I would hope that there would be some way to get the buff while in form. Just seems silly that druids would be singled out and not be able to complete this achieve.

Shapeshifting sheds the buff.

Fortunately, there are vehicle-based battlegrounds where your spec becomes irrelevant. This also allows players who are absolutely terrible at PVP (like me) to get these achievements.

Seriously, cannons in Isle of Conquest.
I know I'm not a druid, but have helped a couple get this last year. We made a party that was the druid (kitty not that it matters in context), frost mage, fire mage, sub rogue, and warrior. Magi do the kills, rogue and warrior to peel off druid if needed, and found a pally in the bg to keep us not dead. Worked really well, one AV and done.

The druid tossed random lolheals, roots, rezzes, but other than that just stayed out of the way.

If you can, try and hook up with some other people that are after the achievement and take turns. By the end of the day, you can all have it.

Easy way -> The vehicle based BGs are awesome for these style achievements.

Best of luck.
I've been complaining about this achievement since they added it. In fact, I've refused to do it because it goes against their design ideas and yet every year they refuse to comment on it. Maybe if they admitted they made a mistake, I'd feel better about it, but to purposfully make 1 class join a BG and play half-assed is against the spirit fo the game. It's stupid and blizzard shouldn't encourage it.

i never though of the vehicle thing, don't you lose the costume when you jump in a vehicle?
I just went resto for it last year and tried to heal, its just random BGs so nobody cares if your healing sucks. But yes, its a boneheaded achieve.
I carry a hodgepodge collection of caster gear, most of which is from the new heroics (so it's decent enough), and I plan on just wearing that to a BG and staying behind people. I don't think it's the fairest thing in the world to shaft druids like this for the achieve... but I don't think it'll be too difficult to survive and still put out a bit of useful damage. I just don't want to change a whole spec for it :)

*crosses fingers*

Nope. You only lose the costume when you die, or when you shapeshift.

This is how I got the achieve last year.

The best part is -- for those of us who are terribad at PVP, it's also a way to get the achieve while somewhat contributing -- because let's face it, if I'm out there trying to do damage or heal, I'm little more than a honor pinata for the Horde to beat on.

when i got this (ages ago) i did so with a brief stint as resto (in full feral pvp gear + healing weapon). hid in bushes and hotted everything in AV.

while i hate that this achieve pretty much screws ferals...... i have to admit that i secretly love achieves that bring the terrible pve crowd into BGs and my lovin' claws....

<grin>
If you're all feral go Strand of the Ancients. If you start off defending, jump in the cannons and shoot everybody. If attacking, try to hang in the back unless you are confident you will make it to the chamber without dying.

EDIT: Just tried this myself, only took 4 runs. Probably less if you get a good group. Don't forget to buff as many teammates as you can. I was getting credit for kills I was no where near.

Doesn't it screw boomkin too? And Resto who use treeform?
Took me 5 AV's. Mostly because I kept hitting Moonkin Form by force of habit.

LSS: Go in your PvE gear and follow the big group.
I just went reso and played with some friends.

The only hard part is making yourself NOT shapeshift... I mean, you know you cant... I swear its muscle memory.
This achievement really punished me for going feral MS feral OS.

Running around as an ugly gnome doing nothing hoping to ninja some HK's from other people doing all the work is NOT fun and is BAD game design.

1) Remove the stupid achievement

2) Change it to "get 50 HK's with your little help friend out" which would put it more in line with other achievements of the same nature

3) Just !@#$ing let feral druids shift and not break the costume...they've done it with other items so theres no excuse that it's not possible
I don't remember this being particularly hard.

1. Transform into Xmas gnome
2. Queue for BG
3. Stand at the back and toss heals

Repeat as necessary.
Uh, all I had to do was queue for IoC and hop in the cannon. If you think this one is bad, I'm sure you'll ENJOY Children's Week.

Boomkin PvP help !

[:1]Is there any guide or anything helpful in here for Boomkin PvP ?
Mainly looking for a talent tree + glyphs and macros.

Thanks.
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/3595374512 ;)

Being serious though there are very few resources due to a general lack of people playing it competitively. The best thing seems to be to ask specific questions with your characters armory and someone with some understanding of competitive balance PvP will try to answer them. Additionally f you can stand the awful people that generally inhabit AJ there is probably some good info to be had on there.
Don't go to Arena Junkies. There was 1 Moonkin PvP thread the last time I checked their Class Discussion boards. 90% of the posts are garbage, outdated, or just non-Druid/Moonkin players spewing filth that rivals the stench of decaying animal carcass. Rarely will you ever get a legit response from a legit player (someone with personal experience, rather than secondary).
I really hard to dig to re-find this posting but this might help you some
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/3580920028And this is a discussion I had with some boomkins the other day to help with macros and such
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/4038617333 Hope these help ya and best of luck.
I would armory a few different boomkins but a must have glyph would be for barkskin.

As a balance druid, don't expect to go off by yourself and do well every time. We are very easily countered by melee, especially frost death knights, rogues, and ferals. A moonkin that can freecast is pretty scary. Spread your dots, and try to detonate 3 mushrooms on every detonate cooldown. Place them not just for aoe but strategically around obstacles or in doorways. Same goes for solar beam.

Good luck, balance pvp can be very frustrating.

Resto trinkets?

[:1]I recently started playing my druid again because my guild needed heals. I still have the crap alchemist stone, but I have the vp for a 397 trinket from the vendor. My issue is the spirit one is crap.

Should I just use the vp for the boots and hold out for foul gift/spine trinket, or go ahead and grab a vendor trinket?

Also; is it worth it to drop Engineering for Herbalism?
Both the VP caster trinkets are crap for healing. Alch Stone isn't too shabby, it has a nice amount of Intellect and a fair amount of static Haste to get you closer to the 2005 plateau. It's a nice placeholder until you can get Foul Gift.

From a purely raiding standpoint, there is no reason to drop a profession with an Intellect cooldown for one with a Haste cooldown. It wouldn't have a tremendous impact on your healing to do so, of course, but it would definitely be a downgrade. Even if you don't micro-manage the Intellect cooldown, and just macro it or have an addon auto-fire it (VuhDo has this functionality, it can auto-fire your glove tinker while casting in combat), it's still very nice.

edit: forgot a crucial word
Dont get herbalism its terrible.
I was able to snag foul gift AND the boots using vp from another character and a ring on from the vp on this char. Thank you for the help guys<3

Alchemy trinket isn't -bad- especially if you're still having problems with the haste cap. Same with the VP trinket if you need more regen. that 2290 extra int would be up for;

Every Zon'ozz tentacle phase
Every Yor'sajh ooze transition
4-5 uses on Ultraxion
Every 2nd giant swirl on Blackhorn
every nuclear blast on Spine
every 40% push on madness tentacles
