Bear pvp question

Can a tank specced, pvp geared feral Druid easily and successfully tank and kill a rogue, dk or warrior 1v1 without leaving bear form?

I see some tanked spec pvp flag running specced ferals absolutely wreck rogues in duels without even going into cat form. Just bear, roots, heal and back to bear.

It looks so cool.

Is there a way around having "4 specs" in MoP

Under the current tree, you have to sacrafice talents like blood in the water and stampede for thick hide and natural reaction.

Fast forward to MoP talents, where the selectable talents are all joined and where is there room for thick hide? If not there, then do you give all ferals all the cat and bear abilities?

There in lies the problem. So how do you solve it?

Method 1: Merge the trees in MoP and allow feral druids and feral druids only to have to chose between blood in the water and stampede for thick hide and natural reaction within the main spec tree.

Method 2: The 2 trees in MoP grant almost identical talents to 80% of the feral tree today (fereal charge, furor, leader of the pack etc.). Actually selecting one tree or the other only matters for the talent points people are moving today.

Method 1 would have to be a special 1 off only for ferals, method 2 in practice would be no different than people going bear form in PvP today despite not having talent points in thick hide.

For people like me that glyph for hybrid use so I can tank 5 mans and still occasionally DPS in cat form under method 2 I would still generally be able to do the same thing.

TL;DR Cat and Bear are only different by about 5 talent points today. If Guardian (bear) and feral (cat) are just the new method of moving those few talents then the druids who shift between cat/bear today can probably do so in MoP for the same reasons.

What are your thoughts, is it possible to retain cat/bear shifting in MoP with 2 different specs? I believe this is entirely possible unless they specifically want to prevent it.
The devs said in a Q&A at blizzcon that they dont think tanks should be able to switch to DPS mid battle, so theyre taking that option away from druids.

Ok well theyre just putting it on a 45sec duration/ 6min cd anyways.

If druids are no longer permitted to switch mid battle does that mean pally tanks will no longer have like 12 CD's?
You will still be able to switch...It's just going to be like a prot warrior or prot pally doing dps...You can still go in cat...You're DPS just won't be as high as it might be now....As a tank anyways. I think that's what there getting at.
Well I am hoping that if we go guardian then if we happen to change forms while tanking we will not be instantly squished. We may not be able to lets say healing touch or tranq while tanking but maybe throw off a b rez or perform and instant cast operation. Sounds like they want to make it so every spec will at some time or another want to use each form. So I am hoping that includes Guardian as well.

Best Bear Trinkets

There are many flavors of bear tanking out there. But what makes the best bear tanking trinket combo? Give me dodge or give me death? A little stamina thrown in for vengeance? Agilty all the way? A penny for your thoughts. I just realized I'm carrying around 6 trinkets for my bear and thought that a little silly.

(1) Moonwell Phial
(2) Spidersilk Spindle
(3) Brawler's Trophy
(4) Stay of Execution
(5) Symbiotic Worm
(6) Ancient Petrified Seed

For the purposes of this thread please focus on tanking for new content Raids. Given, there are going to be a few fights that are exceptions because of mechanics. Let the great debate BEGIN!!!
Well I still prefer fluid death till I can get restabilizer. Runnin petrified seed reforged to dodge too.

Soft capped expertise also, just a personal preference. Typically try to avoid stam trinkets as I am a fan of agility and secondary stats. On uses feel situational, such as using plus dodge/agiliity(seed) for decimation blades, going up for beth to help with damage if healer is slightly behind, etc.

Truth be told, at this level of gear, you can pretty much run whatever feels comfortable to you, although most numbers say dodging an attack is better than taking any damage at all (more uptime on dodge>static stam on use).

I think anyways.
One of Spidersilk Spindle's attributes is: "Melee attacks which reduce you below 35% health cause you to gain a protective shield which absorbs 17095 damage for 30 sec."

Does this mean 17095 dmg total? Or 17095 dmg per hit for 30 sec?
17095 dmg total, so roughly two savage defense proc's worth, depending on AP at the time with Vengeance.

And honestly, it's up to you, really.

As you said, some fights *are* fairly situational, but, personally, as a stock standard setup, I run one pure avoidance trink & one stam.

At the moment, I run the Stam Alch trink, with mastery reforged to dodge & fluid death with hit reforge to dodge.

Granted Feral is my OS, hence why I'm still rocking the old(er) trinks.
Moonwell + APS for Baleroc.

APS + Fluid Death for everything else.
Is there any fight where Moonwell Phial is good?

I'm running Brawler's and FD while I farm MoBI and my guild is starting FL.
Moonwell + APS for Baleroc.

yes. the moonwell's huge dodge boost is excellent for baleroc.
Like you I also have a ton of trinkets in my bags...
Moonwell Phial
Brawler's Trophy
Stay of Execution
Symbiotic Worm (has not been equiped since I got Mirror/Fluid)
Ancient Petrified Seed
Fluid Death
Mirror

I have yet to see Spidersilk Spindle drop while on my (this) alt.
I wouldn't take it from a main (tank), I see it as a weaker Stay of Execution, with a much smaller shield, but no blow-back dmg.

I have passed on the Matrix twice so far, because I was tanking a run with some AGI mains (hunter and a rouge), I'm not passing again ;p

Most often I have 2 of Seed, Stay, Moonwell, or Fluid on.
Depends mostly on the fight, and if I am in an alt or mains run.
I just realized I'm carrying around 6 trinkets for my bear and thought that a little silly.

what debate? you can never have too many trinkets!
Casual Bear here.

I have not seen a mention of ricket's magnetic trinket from the FL dailies. http://www.wowhead.com/item=70144. Is this not a suitable trinket for tanking with? I figured it was but if I am wrong a turn in the right direction will be much appreciated.

It's okay, but Fluid Death (and anything better than Fluid Death) is better.
Bear in mind (get it?) that two on-use trinkets can be obnoxious with their shared mini-cd.

From your list I would go with spindle + APS.

If u have brawlers I wouldnt use moon well for bale since that will just make it harder on your healers. I would use APS and Fluid Death til u get Matrix. That's what I did. I still use brawler and APS for h bale though
*For tank and spank: Moonwell Phial and Fluid Death. Stamina/Dodge and Agility/Crit are your best all arounds.

*Dodge: Moonwell Phial & Brawler's Trophy

*Anti-Magic: Either Scales of Life or Stay of Execution & Mirror of Broken Images

*Mobility: Scales of Life/Stay of Execution & Ancient Petrified Seed
Also, Moonwell Phial and Brawler's Trophy are perfectly fine for Bale. The length of time between Devastation (or whatever the hit that has to be dodged, not mitigated is) means you will always have one of the two trinkets up, and if you're smart, a potion of the tol'vir.
Quick question, do you guys reforge the mastery from MoBI to dodge, or keep as is?

Thanks.

the new talent system

i think its effing awesome anyone else with me on this, it feels much more customizable no bull!@#$ involved i love the new feral tree http://us.battle.net/wow/en/game/mists-of-pandaria/feature/talent-calculator#UZ!100122 anyone see that disentanglement at the last tier at 90 for ferals that is awesome or the new faerie swarm in the second tier pretty cool stuff imo.

Bears: What do you take as your offspec?

My offspec is currently balance, but I'm considering changing it to cat and just using my tank-reforged feral gear because it's ~15-20 item levels ahead of my balance gear. In LFR, at least, I do about as much dps in my bear spec in catform as I do in balance spec and moonkin form. It might also save me some gold on balance gear, though I do enjoy moonkin.

Do other bears find it effective to just play cat spec with tank-reforged gear? Or do you prefer to play a different spec entirely and gear it separately?
My primary spec is bearcat, and my secondary spec is either pure bear or pure cat depending on the progression boss we're working on, pre-DS it was Restoration, but my raid doesn't need me to OS Resto anymore

My gear is all bearcat reforged. If you are interested in bearcat playstyle, you can check out the guide here: http://theincbear.com/dragon-soul-bearcat-guide
Basically what Tangedyn said. But if you want your raid to be happy they will most likely want boomkin due to the fact that everyone wants ranged>melee.
Bearcat / PvP
The way I play, my primary spec is pure bear. I used to go bearcat, but I am just on the fence about whether or not my pure-bear gear (that I plan to keep that way for now) will still be more effective in a pure-cat spec than my moonkin gear/spec (which is ~362 ilevel [edit: and only pumps out ~15k in LFR, which I can do in bear gear/spec and catform]).

Edit: I actually registered on the inconspicuous bear last week, just haven't gotten around to reading it very much. I've been a Maintankadin poster for a long time but I've gotten back into using this alt recently so I figured I might as well get reading on some of the bear stuff.

bearcat and then i rotate the 2nd between pure dps, pure tank, and feral pvp.

I'm resto with a bear offspec. *shrugs* I do keep gear sets for all four specs though in case for some reason my raid needs a boomkin or a kitty, but that hasn't been the case in a long time. I think resto/boomkin or bear/kitty are the easiest to manage because of cross applicable gear, but really you can pick whatever you like best if you're at the point where your raid is sharding most of the drops or giving them to people's offspec.
I'm bear with kitty off spec. it's just how i play. i can't seem to grasp boomkin so i just stopped bothering with it
Bearcat with emphasis on Bear, and Bearcat with emphasis on Cat. At the beginning of this expansion, I abused our ability to be both tanks and ranged DPS. It was very nice, considering how the first two raids favored ranged DPS so heavily.
I swap between cat and balance. I usually stay as cat since I hate swapping flasks mid-raid and wasting my 4hr flask buff.

I keep seperate tank and dps gear sets. My cat gear is mostly what I was using for my tank set before I got an upgrade (cat is quite useful in that sense) e.g. my tank set has the 397 T13 shoulders while my cat set has the 384 T13 shoulders. My balance set is obviously completely different from my bear and cat sets.
I'm dueled spec for feral. My main is kind of hybrid; mostly dps for pvp. my second spec is strictly feral tank. although I don't tank much anymore...

What to buy?

I have a bunch of JP burning a hole in my pocket and am trying to decide the best purchase for gearing up my resto druid.

I was going to buy an Obsidian Arborweave Tunic, to get the 2 piece set bonus, but then I got a decent chest piece drop from a heroic dungeon. If I do decide to get an Obsidian Arborweave piece, should I replace my gloves or my chest piece?

I could replace the old quest green that I'm using for a helmet, but the JP helmets aren't as nice.

My lowest ilvl equipment is my ring, trinket, and relic; should I replace one of those?

Thanks.
Relics are cheap, and one would raise your item level.

Could also maybe get the ring if you have enough jp.
If you want to continue healing (which is awesome), you should really invest in the tier chest OR the gloves+relic. The relic should be the first 378 or 397 piece you buy (assuming you have 700 jp or vp). I see you bought the cloak. I would buy the 378 or 397 healing relic then go for the tier set bonus with gloves or chest piece.
Assuming you capped VP last week, if you bought the cloak you should have enough VP before the end of this week to get the 397 relic as well (1250 for cloak + 700 for relic = 1950). I'd do that and spend your JP on the T12 gloves (cheaper than chest) for the bonus. Also, get the 378 ring and neck soon as well, those are each only 1250 I believe.

Since there's no cap on JP you can get all of that this weekend.
I would get the ring.

Boomkin Weapon Help

Currently I am using Vagaries of Time with Ledger of Revolting Rituals. My group is getting to Madness this week, and I was wondering if Rathrak, the Poisonous Mind drops would it be worth getting. It looks like it would be an int loss, and I would lose secondary stats, but from I've been told the proc is buffed with our solar eclipse. So would it be worth getting? I should also mention that it would most likely cause me to lose my 3101 haste breakpoint.
Are you carrying a group?
I'm just not sure how a 398 Balance druid hasn't killed Madness WITH a 15% nerf.

Rathrak makes up for the loss in stats on any fight with adds, for single target stick with Vagaries. (If I'm wrong, anyone can correct me. That's based off of some simming I read at the beginning of the expansion.)

Regardless of that though, if you're doing your rotation even half right, you're not the problem. You're probably the outlier in a pre-madness group.
Deleted by Zultani
I was in a pretty good guild on alliance side a while back, and we got to madness back in december. I think like 2 weeks after the 4.3 patch came out, but the guild was full of a bunch of BLEEPS, and the guild leader became inactive, and refused to give up power. He knew that after 30 days of inactivity blizzards systems would automatically give the leadership to another high ranked member of the guild, so he would stay logged out for 27-28 days, and he would log in on the last day to refresh the cycle. So I just left the guild and was guildless for a while which made it so I never got my madness kill on this toon(got it on my dk alt), Now that I found a new guild I am leading some friends who have not done DS before. They have made a lot of progress, and are getting ready to down madness. As far as DPS goes, yeah I'm an outlier on the high end, but that doesn't really matter they all are doing quite well.

Enough of my guild story. Back to the original question. I am worried that my DPS will drop significantly with the Deathwing dagger because I will lost my 3101 haste breakpoiint. I want to know if the proc is worth it. If what you say is correct than I will most likely take the dagger if it drops, and I am lucky enough to win the roll.
3101 haste breakpoint is only good if you play properly. Don't clip Lunar DOTs until they're about to fall off, and don't clip Solar DOTs if they will last you into Lunar Eclipse. Worst case scenario you go a couple seconds without rolling DOTs. Rathrak does not benefit from haste, pretty sure, and I don't think any simulators have properly gauged the effectiveness of it. In my opinion, I would advise you grab Rathrak if possible. You'll gain more spell power and the proc isn't bad at all.
I am worried because my dps has shot up quite a bit since I got to the breakpoint. I don't want it to fall. However I trust your judgment, and if you say I should get it I will then. :D Thanks Cyous

Mastery cap? How high do u go?

I know some resto droods start to reforge all spirit into mastery and mastery is making your heals stronger. I am kind of having hard time with this idea. On Heroic Beth, by mid p 2 I go oom. Mainly because the raid in p1 takes crazy damage and a few targets I was assigned to heal (a lock and a boomkin, especially lock) would grab 2 packs of spiderlings and I had to literally pop into a tree form to cast instant regrowth and all my hots to not let him die.

After using an innervate and a domo's trinket I am back at nearly 80% mana but then is what I call "hell breaks loose" - spiderlings running around, people taking insane damage left and right. I spam my rejuvs/wg and keeping my LB with rejuv on lock and occassional regrowth with nourishes but then when we group up on Beth I am like at 2% mana with my innervate on cd.

So here's my question...if I'd reforge my spirit to mastery and get stronger heals, then my heals would heal for better numbers and I would not need to spend lots of mana to constantly cast spells to keep people up?

How high should a mastery be for heroic FL? One drood has 1800 mastery he reforged 2k spirit into it... any suggestions? I haven't tried to reforge all my spirit yet. Just seeking an advice from experienced resto droods. Thx
/bump

Anyone?
There is things your raid can do to prevent some of the damage, for instance...

Kill the pee spiders before they get to their targets... Burn spinners quickly... That eliminates alot of damage right there...

Are you 2 or 3 healing?

I have no problems with mana on that fight, but I always end the fight with about 15-20% mana leftover.
we have usually 6 healers we are a 25 man raid/guild and have 2 teams of 25 people (each) + or - 1/2 who sit outside on a good day when attendance is high.

I did have issues with mana mostly because I was a floating healer at some point and dps was just taking crazy dmg at first. If Innervate is on cd and if u got your 2 pcs t12 I pop into a tree form and cast LB on every single person. In Tree form u can cast LB on multiple targets still. One time on one fight.... I regained full mana bar within seconds it was amazing and my innervate was on cd still.

balance druid gear question

should i use the boe valor wrist over glowing wing?

edit: is the item lvl an crit worth the loss of haste?
You aren't losing a breakpoint so I would say probably.

Ideally though you should grab the crafted bracers if you can. Also, I would recommend tryn g this out in wrathcalcs and seeing what it has to say.
get the LW bracers. Soooooooooo amazing

Resto Druid 3478 Haste Breakpoint

Hey so...

As of the moment my gear isn't quite ready to try out a reforge to this next breakpoint so this is aimed towards high end resto druids. Is the 6th tick of rejuv and 10th tick of wg/efflo with DI worth doing a mass reforge for?

It'd be difficult and would probably need to revert to certain t12 pieces. The reason why im asking this is due to the lack of burst healing we're suffering from at the moment outside of tranquility.
I personally don't see how gimping all of your other stats in favor of it would help at all. I could be wrong, but 3400 haste seems far off.

If someone more knowledgable about it tosses some info out here, it'd be interesting to hear though!

By the way OP, you're a bit under the 2005 marker, as well.

I swap out for the static haste trink if needed but i always have dark intent so 2005 isnt a breakpoint for me

EDIT: Also wearing the wrong weapon :/
Oh no problem! Just had noticed! And I know the bottled wishes provides a massive boost to haste, but I really am not sure if gimping mastery /other stats would favor those other breakpoints, but I am going to watch this thread because I'd like to know myself on if that is worth shooting for =)
yeah i hate the idea of a sp use trinket like bottled wishes but i totally agree i hate losing so much static Int/mastery. But currently thoroughput is just such a massive problem with handling burst damage for H morchok for example.. so just trying to see if the haste breakpoint would help out a bit. Hehe hopefully someone has done some insane math calculations to work it out :)
I haven't done the math..but I think we're still wanting to lurk around the 2005 haste breakpoint...with 4 heroic pieces I'm sitting around 27% mastery while having the additional breakpoints..it's very nice. The best thing us resto druids for high damage phases is to preemptively hot and heal people. Also kick them in the face if they're not using their personals or if they're (in H Morchok's case) not running towards the crystal until the beam is blue.
It would greatly depend on how much of your healing is from WG / Efflo for 3754 (3272) for a ~11% increase to those. It would be more interesting (at least in 25M) for your target of 6th tick of rejuv at 3967(3478) to see if it would be worth it, seeing as it is a 20% increase at that breakpoint. Personally, I prefer to sit around the 2005 and have much higher int / mastery / crit.
well the next factor to take in is also how much stronger natures grace becomes due to the increased haste from that further surpassing other breakpoints. With my current ilevel i couldn't justify a full on reforge and the massive loss of int.. but perhaps in more heroic gear it could be worth the reforge. Think the only way ill know for sure is to test it in our raid once i obtain more gear.. ill post my findings when i find out :)
Well, from my spreadsheet at http://theincbear.com/math/resto-druid-spreadsheet
The 3272 breakpoint is worth ~385 IEP and the 3478 breakpoint is worth an additional ~485 IEP
Getting to 3272 is not worth it because you trade off (3272-2005) * (0.41-0.08) = ~418 IEP worth of secondary stats, but losing (3478-2005) * .33 = ~486 IEP worth of secondary stats is definitely worth the gain of 385 + 485 = ~870 IEP for the 3478 breakpoint.

Relying on procs to reach breakpoints is DEFINITELY NOT worth it. The best you can hope for is 25% uptime, making the value of the 3272 + 3478 breakpoint = .25 * 870 = ~218 IEP which is terrible compared to the value of secondary stats loss

Interesting.. Going to need quite a few heroic pieces if i were to do such a massive reforge though due to the only way i could get there would be to sacrifice Int which effectively would not be worth it.
It would be worth sacrificing up to 870 - 486 = 384 intellect for the 3272+3478 breakpoint.
This seems silly. Plus I can say that if you use the Maw (BiS) you lost a lot of haste and with T13 gear it's very hard to compensate effectively. I have struggled to get the 2005 without dropping my mastery which helps with throughput healing more than haste after 2005. Ideallly* I try to not drop below 1900 mastery tho I'm currently below that because of how the T13 gear limits reforging in haste and mastery. I have seen some people talk about sacrificing intellect on this thread and explored that the other night as well but the math we (my guild and I) came up with seemed that sacrificing any intellect for especially haste was completely worthless and even for mastery seemed iffy. I would stick with the 2005 haste break tbh. There isn't much reason to go beyond that, especially with the time slip 4 piece bonus where your ticking more than usual anyway. It seems more purposeful to maximize the output on those ticks.
You said you've done the math, but you've neglected to disclose it. I have the math that shows roughly how much mastery/spirit and intellect it is worth sacrificing to reach the 2005 and 3478 breakpoints. Stat values and breakpoint values taken from my spreadsheet at http://theincbear.com/math/resto-druid-spreadsheet

2005 breakpoint: (over 917)
Breakpoint value = ~400 IEP
Mastery/Spirit sacrificed = (2005 - 917) * .33 = ~359 IEP
Intellect worth sacrificing = 400 - 359 = ~41

3478 breakpoint: (over 1573)
Breakpoint value = 385 + 485 = ~870 IEP
Mastery/Spirit sacrificed = (3478 - 1573) * .33 = ~629 IEP
Intellect worth sacrificing = 870 - 629 = ~241

Either show us where my maths have gone wrong or show us your maths and tell us why we should believe in it over mine.

Leather Itemization = >:(

So yah, picked up my 410 belt last night of Zon'ozz and now I get to either be over the expertise cap or over the hit cap.

What really sucks about this is over the hit cap is about the best option since reforging the expertise on my legs instead of the hit nets more mastery.

Here's hoping Blizz pays attention to the stats they're putting on our gear next xpac. :/
Opt for the expertise. For tanking, expertise will continue to prevent parries while hit will do nothing besides helping your FFF miss slightly less often. For dps, well, neither is great. But again, expertise will help to prevent parries for the few instances where your target is facing you while hit over the cap does nothing at all.

PvP question.

If this were a 2's match and I was running Druid Mage against Feral Priest, could I do the following.

Hibernate the Feral, Cyclone the Priest and leave them both CC'd at the same time.

Also, does Nature's Swiftness make Hibernate instant cast as Resto?

Thanks.
Yes to all questions!
Yes you can. This is a great way to reset a match.

Druid Duel Wielding

Ok so heres the issue druids can use fist weapons but are not allowed to duel wield fist weapons. Now I can see where people are going to take this why should druids be allowed to Duel Wield well I think they can be balanced just like rogues with a little tweaking. A druids Agility staff more times then none offers more agility then 2 1h weapons but at lower levels when there are really no staffs and very few weapons with agility I find myself using weapons I shouldnt as a feral druid. Some may say well if you give druids duel wielding it will increase there attack speed in feral not if done correctly. I think this is somthing that should be looked at carefully mind you im not really a technical person when it comes to the game but i do know my way around each class.
Feral druids scale with attack power and the actual dps stat of an item (it is the part under weapon range that says x damage per second). The actual speed of the weapon does not matter since all feral attacks are normalized by form before haste (cat get 1.0, bear get 2.5). So essentially, feral druids should never use anything but staves, polearms, and the occasional 2 handed mace with agility.

Also with the consolidation of loot in cataclysm, blizzard wants all specs to be equipped a certain way in order to be optimal (hunters do not dual wield, rogues have fast dagger off hand).
Can feral druids have two fist weapons?
Nope, working the talents to support it would make a mess. Monk tanks will use staff or polearm.

Harmony uptime

Am I doing something wrong (either reading world of logs wrong or failing on my rest druid). I was going through World of Logs today and I noticed my harmony uptime is really low (<40%), which does not make any sense to me since I am hitting swift mend on cooldown and constantly using direct heals (especially nourish).

Here is the link: http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-1f9t6vo62tn06c5x/details/7/
That's because it's not a specific encounter. The first random log I looked at was a 80%+ harmony uptime.
Don't look at the full report - that is likely including some trash or something buggy.

Cause when you look only at Bosses (or Wipes since you didn't kill him), your Harmony uptime is at 85.3% which is much more normal.
ok whew. Thank you I figured I was terrible.

What is the point of fist weapons for druids?

Ever since I can remember, druids can use fist weapons, well druids can use main hand fist weapons. Which seems rather confusing since you really do not gain anything from using one fist weapon. The stats would seem to be not worth it, and you really do not get that sweet look that one on each hand gives, so really why have them available? Not really complaining just wondering.
I wish we could have some use from firsts, I need to transmog something to The Bladefist
well..... there was a fist weapon for moonkin/resto, Wraith Strike

but thats pretty much the extent of fist weapons for us

yes - it would be nice if fist weapons are more useful to us. too bad the devs said no when asked if they would make feral and fist 'clings'
Thats just it, it seems like they just don't have a reason why they let druids use them other than "oh hey, um here ya go have a set of brass knuckles, no real reason why but hey it's cool ok?"
I would just like to see the off hand ones get unlocked, even if stat wise it sucks , it would be a bit of fun while leveling and for transmog later.

dps value of feral set bonuses?

So I've seen it said that the T12 2pc bonus (Fiery Claws: 10% bonus to Shred/Mangle) translates to about 5% dps increase. Has anyone calculated what the dps value of the T13 4pc bonus is (free Ravage every time you pop TF). It should translate to about 7-10 free ravages over the course of the fight.
600-800 DPS: T12 2PC, T12 4PC, T13 4PC

1600-1800 DPS: T13 2PC
600-800 DPS: T12 2PC, T12 4PC, T13 4PC

1600-1800 DPS: T13 2PC

Sooooo..... you're saying that both T12 bonuses and the T13 4pc are all about equal in value? I ask because someone I know was considering dropping the last of their 378 T12 items and the 2pc Fiery Claws bonus for LFR T13 items in order to get the T13 four-piece. I thought that Fiery Claws was better than that...
No Bonus: 37780.94
Tier 12 2Pc: 39010.93
Tier 12 2Pc: 38656.47
Tier 13 2Pc: 38565.20
Tier 13 4Pc: 39647.79

That's my gear, didn't change anything except for the set-bonuses, only 1 set bonus active at a time. What also must be taken into account is that if you are using T12 bonuses, you have to account for the loss in Agility and Secondary Stats.

moonkin dots?

i've been wondering this for a long time now and still can't seem to find an answer.. why does every dot class have dispell protection except moonkins? i've just started playing moonkin in pvp again and i'm still gearing but i would really like to know why this is, like locks have UA firemages have LB even ele shamans get 100% haste if theirs is dispelled, shadow priests have vamp touch don't even frost dks have some type that resets a frost rune or something if their frost disease is dispelled.. idk maybe i'm just over thinking it but it does get annoying when a priest just sits there and dispells your dots in 1 dispell when it took 2gcd's to put them up there, or is it just made so moonkins need to run with a dot class that has it?
This is pretty much not going to be an issue in MoP with the new dispel mechanics. Also, we only have (essentially) one dot in MoP anyways (we are losing IS as a DoT), so if someone wants to waste an 8 sec cd dispelling moonfire it won't exactly hurt us.

Looking to see if need improvement

I healed as a resto for the first time since beginning of tier 11
I have my world of logs posts

http://worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-0opnhnz6olroqdb8/sum/healingDone/?enc=kills

You can look through each boss. I am looking for any way to improve.
The only fights I had mana problem was on Ragnaros I think that's because I had to take the battle res. End of Rhyolith and Baleroc too.

Thank you , if you have time.

Need PvP feral keybinding help.

Everything I have tried so far has sucked lol

My biggest problem is finding a way to get into any form I need instantly. I can't find a good way to manage cat form, bear form, caster form and travel form.

I currently use dominoes and I think I've found a nice key layout but getting all the abilities I need to use in comfortable spots is a real pain.

I have:

[Shift] + 1 2 3 4 5 A S D F G
[Ctrl] + 1 2 3 4 5 A S D F G
[none] + 1 2 3 4 5 A S D F G

The nomod bar changes with bear, cat and caster form.

These are 30 keybinds I feel comfortable hitting at any time. 1-5 and A-G because they mirror each other. I have 2 side mouse buttons and a middle mouse button that I can click but can't roll (it's broken).

I'm basically looking for vague tips but more specific advice is welcome. Feel free to share your set up and why it works for you. :D

I'll always prefer, when casting nature spells, to have the cast break the form rather than canceling the form then casting. I find that difficult to deal with as well.
i use a razor naga so keep that in mind, 1-12 on the side is much easier to hit than 7 through the = on the keyboard.

but i use * 1-12, shift + 1-12, ctrl + 1-12, alt +1-12, and the question you were having is

druid forms, i use, ctrl+alt+1-5 (6) (depending on which spec)

and with dominoes like you said you run, you should be able to assign your bars to match your forms, ie, mangle is 1 in cat but in caster it may be rejuv.

edit.... the word really was shift
Try using Z, X, C, and V.

Z and V at least. V is very reachable by thumb (its actually my form shift) and Z can be used with a pinky.
My problem isn't finding enough key binds. I have plenty.

My problem is mapping out feral abilities in a way that's reasonably fluid for pvp.

Mostly form management and heal, root, hibernate, cyclone management.

=\
I use F1-F5 for forms - in the order they're in on the class bar. Since my left hand is up there anyway (QE are strafe for me), they're pretty comfortable for my small hands, and I only have a 4 button mouse. (Actually, there's 5, but I can't reach the left side 5th button with my pinky comfortably, so I gave up on it.)
` (SkullBash macro that works based on my form)
1-6 + RFVTB for regular skills so far
G - random key for Natures Grasp

(Those are just the keys for the bars that change with my forms - so depending on the form I'm in, those are the set that are active.)

You can see an (extremely) OLD version of what my UI looks like here: http://noyoki.com/PVP/ui1.jpg - It still looks like that, just the keybinds are all different now. (Not 1 through = anymore.)

I also use a mouseover macro (Ctrl + 4th mouse button) for Cyclone, and a Healbot setup for most of my healing spells, though I will probably eventually switch to Clique full time, I'm just used to looking at Healbot atm.

I'm currently working on Shift + that combo for CDs like Barkskin, SI, Berserk, etc. (I've been slowly retraining myself on my keybinds for the past month or so... I'm still adding as I get more and more comfortable with the binds I have.)

I'm also working on another mouseover for roots.

Keys like the reply function have been relegated to Ctrl + r, or bags are Ctrl + b.
I use 'E' for Skull bash (macro for different forms), then 1-5, Shift 1-5, Alt 1-5 for normal abilities, middle wheel button for mouseover Focus, 'F' for Maim in Cat and Lifebloom in Caster (macro), 'G' for Cyclone (macro for focus or mouseover). Like Tas, I use F1-F5 for forms although I have Cat form also bound to Alt-'Q' (normal 'Q' is empty). I too have small hands (but wear size 14 shoes) so need everything in a compact area on the keyboard. I tried using my G13 about 10 times now to see if I could get used to that and keep giving up after a short amount of time. With the next patch tomorrow, I should try it again.

I change this often, but it is how it is currently. It will probably change again next week when I start RBG/Arena/BGs again.

-Geck-no-o
My keybinds are absolutely ridiculous and my friends laugh at me for it, so this probably won't help. But it's what works for me, sooo.

Ctrfl+asdf for forms (travel, flight, bear, cat)
F is stealth and bash
V is skull bash, both forms
Ctrl+B,V,C,X,Z is SI, Berserk, TF, Dash, and Barkskin respectively
Z is nature's grasp
2345 is mangle, rake, shred, ravage (I don't use 1, I'm not sure why :/)
Ctrl+1,2,3 are finishers; FB, rip, and maim
Ctrl+4 is FC for both forms
= is savage roar, don't ask..
Ctrl+r is stampeding roar
Ctrl+n is trinket

I also have a bunch of crap on my mouse. 1 is cyclone, 3 is focus cyclone, 5 is lifebloom, etc.

I bind things based on how my hands are comfortable, like most other people. I guess I just have freaky hands or something. Things I use often are right by my fingertips, things I use not quite as often are the same keys with a modifier (usually just ctrl, because alt and shift both are awkward for me). Cooldowns have modifiers so I'm less likely to accidentally use them.

Looking for Feral Transmog advice.

Hi all. I'm kinda dissapointed that my two druids are pretty much gimped in the transmog department, but I'm gonna make a set anyway for this toon! He's MS kitty, and I'd like to theme it around that. I'd prefer a gray or black color scheme, but I was just wondering what sorts of sets everyone would suggest?

I would prefer not to use tier, btw, at least not as a full set.
Listen hun, with that tabard, and those eyes, you should go for a blue look. Maybe some cobalt, maybe some blue with red in it.
Haha, well, I'm up for anything. :)

Just looking for some ideas so I don't like like a garbage dump of three tiers.

This is a list of all available transmog sets known for druids.

Assassination and Darkmantle look pretty good in the black/grey department.

That...is an excessively handy feature! Thanks, Mcgoorawr. :)

Thinking Frostsaber might be nice. Any idea what helms/shoulders would go well with it?

"This set is an exact replica of the Righteous Armor set. However, every piece in the Righteous set are random world drops.

The fastest way I found to make this set is to get a Leatherworker to create all the Frostsaber pieces, then to head over to the nearest Auction House and search for the shoulders and belt from the Righteous set.

Feel free to get the bracers and helm off the AH as well, but IMO, you'll never see the bracers and the helm doesn't quite match the rest of the set. (Appears to be a mail headpiece as opposed to the cloth-like texture of the rest of the armor.) I went with the Ghostshroud hood, which drops off of Doom'rel in the Blackrock Depths dungeon.

Taken right from the text in the link you gave, and I agree with the ghost shroud. It's easy to get as well.

Wowhead.com is a great transmog tool, you just need to be willing to put the time in to learning how to use it's features. For this above list, all I did was
-wowhead.com
-database
-items
-armor
-leather
-shoulder
-It states there are 668 to choose from, but will only display 200. To narrow down to less than 200, I chose "Rare" in the "quality" filter on the top right of the screen (rare = blue items).
-click "Apply Filter"
-There is now 159 to choose from, which is less than 200, so all are displayed.

Do a similar narrowing of the search to look for all of the rest of the 468 shoulders.

Happy hunting!

(The real problem will not be the head and the shoulders, but in finding a leather worker who will make the items for you.)

Seeking expert assistance

Greetings!

My wife and I recently returned to WoW after an absence (aka, playing other games). When we played last, she got to 85 on a hunter and I got to 85 on a shaman dual spec ele/restro. Starting again, she is staying hunter as that is the class she enjoys the most. I, however, am seeking to do a druid instead. It's been long enough that I only vaguely remember the specifics for how my ele shaman played. I know there is a decent combo to get a lot of damage out fast. I'm wanting to level up as a balance druid and will probably do the dual spec restro for dungeon finder when I get there.

So, those whom have more experience then I, is there any general advice for duo'ing with a hunter and will eventually be a healer?

Thanks!

Humbly,
~Old dog seeking new tricks

I can't NOT play my Druid.

I've been gearing this guy up for PvP lately in random bgs. It's been a rather...painful experience. Multiple times a day I say "screw this" and go pvp on my mage or rogue alts out of frustration. At one point I even shelved my moonkin in favor of leveling said rogue and mage.
Yet again and again I dust off this druid, who's been my main since I started playing this game. There is something about this class that solidifies it's position as my first and only main. Something I can't put my finger on...

uhh... duh... your amazing name.
Probably because it can do anything and everything. It is the class. I just got sent the Scroll thingy and decided to give druids a try. I honestly have no desire to get my old characters restored, whom I deleted before I quit. It is a lot of fun being a bear.
Clever name btw! The man said it himself, "You can get further with a kind word and a guuuu....druid than you can with just a kind word."-AC

Give me 1/2 the survival any other healer

Druids are pathetic. Even the geared ones I come across in pugs/arenas have become victim to the same sequence. Pressure til tree...either keep up pressure or cc...kill ...gg

PLEASE FIX.

Pallys mockingly run around and around among dps while they hopelessly try to kill them. They are insane.
Druids are god in tree , completely trainable/killable in caster. Please fix. I know Blizz has a huge habit of buffing one spec/class while destroying another. There is no doubt this is the route they choose to intice ppl to stay ingame. But for the love of Barkskin , resto druids need ALOT more then what we have. Thanks.

Boomy PvP Question

Should we even gem spell pen? Or should we just gem something else in the blue sockets?

Rate My Resto Druid plz :P

Basically I just wanted some feedback from other resto druids on my spec as well as any thoughts you have on my gems/reforges/gear.

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/character/firetree/Tenrau/advanced

This isn't a toon I raid on consistently, but I love healing on my resto druid and I want to kind of flesh out a few things I'm concerned/curious about as far as my spec specifically. I don't have mana issues which is why I took out all the points I had in Moonglow and into Genesis and Furor. I took the point out of Nature's Cure because I rarely if ever find myself using my dispel simply because other classes, specifically priests, have those dispels handled much more effectively than myself. I appreciate any thoughts or opinions you guys have :)
You're so close to 2005 Haste! It's really, really potent, I couldn't recommend it more. You can get there by putting Haste on your boots (if you're going to pass on run speed) and swapping a couple gems (it's worth losing a small bit of Int to get there).

Enchant your bracers!

The cloak will be used till the end of the expansion - get Greater Intellect!

Not being Exalted with Therazane seems... odd.

I'm also very disinclined towards gathering profs, but to each their own.
You don't have mana issues because you've reforged to spirit over mastery and crit. This it wrong, it has been mathematically proven that it is more effective to balance throughput and sustainability by reforging for throughput and speccing for sustainability.

This means you should spec for 3 Moonglow 2 Furor, and prefering Mastery over Spirit in your reforging. You should also go for the 2005 haste breakpoint, which is doable if you change your boots enchant to Enchant Boots - Haste for an additional 50 Haste.

Here is how I'd recommend you reforge: http://i.imgur.com/o6BDl.jpg

Hey guys, while you're at it could you also give me a few pointers? This is a new alt im gearing up and i just recently reforged everything to reach 2005 haste. With this setup I could finally 2 man heal Madness and ended the fight with some mana to spare (managed Innervate, CDs and Concentration potion as effectively as possible). But any other tips would be greatly appretiated!
Looks good, I think you should reforge some of that spirit to mastery though. Here's what I would do:

Thanks! Changes made as you suggested, now to wait for next weeks reset to try them out :P

I'll change my boots for that 2005 haste, and I enchanted my boots. As for Therazane..not a toon I raid on consistently so I just sort of forget about it soon after remembering. This reminds me to put on the tabard again. As for Herbing..I can't herb on any other toon but a Tauren Druid. Flightform + speed herb. :).

I'll change all that up and try it out. So stat weights Haste till 2005, then crit/spirit to mastery > haste?

Thank you for all actually helpful advice :)

Feral charge macro help

hey i am wounder what would the macro be for this... i want both my feral charge bear n cat to be on smae button so like if i had the macro binded to 9 in cat it would do feral charge cat n when in bear it would do feral charge bear. thanks for your help DRUIDS RULE
#showtooltip
/cast [stance:1] Feral Charge(Bear Form)
/cast [stance:3] Feral Charge(Cat Form)

#showtooltip
/cast [form:1]Feral Charge(Bear Form); [form:3]Feral Charge(Cat Form)

Same as above but a little tidier ;)
#showtooltip
/use [form:1]Feral Charge(Bear Form); [form:3]Feral Charge(Cat Form)

Same as above with 1 less character

COME AT ME BRO
Lol, I concede.

/bow
#showtooltip
/use [form:3]Feral Charge(Cat Form);Feral Charge

Using "Feral Charge" alone implies "Feral Charge(Bear Form)"
#showtooltip Feral Charge(Cat Form)
/cast [stance:1, target=focus, modifier:shift] Feral Charge(Bear Form): [stance:1] Feral Charge(Bear Form)
/cast [stance:3, target=focus, modifier:shift] Feral Charge(Cat Form): [stance:3] Feral Charge(Cat Form)

Feral Charge in Cat or Bear and on Focus target w/ Shift modifier
#showtooltip
/use [form:3]Feral Charge(Cat Form);Feral Charge

Using "Feral Charge" alone implies "Feral Charge(Bear Form)"

#show
/use [form:3]Feral Charge(Cat Form);Feral Charge
#showtooltip
/cast [stance:1]Feral Charge(Bear Form)
/castsequence reset=10 Feral Charge(Cat Form), Ravage!
/run UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

Allows Feral Charge in both forms and will even let you use the free Ravage without having to use a different button.
#showtooltip
/use [form:3]Feral Charge(Cat Form);Feral Charge

Using "Feral Charge" alone implies "Feral Charge(Bear Form)"

#show
/use [form:3]Feral Charge(Cat Form);Feral Charge

Technical nitpick: #show and #showtooltip are slightly different. #show shows the correct icon when you choose the ? icon. #showtooltip shows the correct icon and also shows the tooltip when you hover over the button.
Don't forget to add /cast Fairie Fire(Feral) as well!!!

I think that's how it looks in game, but I'm probably wrong. It puts up FF as you charge, leaving you to go straight into your rotation without having to FF after the charge.

Bear Spec (Cat or Bear Form?)

I'm trying to level with a quasi survivability spec. I thought that would best be done by leveling as a tanking spec. I'm copying the tank spec from Mr. Robot & itemizing my gear based on the same website's stat point weighing system.

Yet, I don't feel I'm doing any better DPS when I go to cat form when I'm questing. Bear or Cat, I seem to run in and three shot mobs.

Can someone please guide this young druid as to what he's supposed to be doing?
leveling is VERY strange in scaling dmg... both specs will have "break points" where certain talents and abilities come into play and change the playstyle and damage dramatically.

Hybrid Gem/enchants?

I dropped resto because its simply not fun for me anymore. I don't think I ever enjoyed the new healing model or the druid changes. No, I'm not saying its difficult. Its just not fun.

I've been playing cat dps the last few days and I'm thoroughly surprised at how much fun im having because I've always been a tank or heals kind of player.

My question is this:

I'd like to turn feral dps into my primary but I need to be able to keep a viable tank for guild related activities. Is it possible to gem and enchant in a way that makes them both viable? I'd rather not collect a whole second set of gear because of enchants and gems and I dont want to gimp one for the other

I could swap out the yellow +dodge gems for +mastery gems, and that wouldn't be too big of a hit. Then I could go straight agi after reaching the meta activation and that wouldn't be too bad, I don't believe.

I wouldn't mind reforging periodically for the big stuff, obviously dodge is a bear thing.

Besides the meta gem the only thing that's really got me thinking how viable this actually is would be the enchants.

there's no way I'm keeping stacks of enchants.

I'm using 2 ramp up agi trinkets for tanking, so if I dropped the bear meta for a cat meta and swapped stam bracers for agi I would have to use a stam trinket to make up for the loss of hp in my current set of gear.

The bonus from all this stuff really only helps after its all added up as I see it, even if the main stat they share is agility.

There's no possible way I can do this on one set of gear without gimping both spec's, is there?
Gem straight agility for EVERYTHING.
Try to get 2 helms, otherwise carry 2 stacks of metagems.

Reforge priorities (assuming hit and exp not capped)
Cat: Mastery=Crit=Exp=Hit=Haste > Dodge
Bear Mitigation: Dodge > Mastery > Crit=Exp > Hit > Haste
Bear DPS: Expertise > Hit > Crit > Haste > Mastery=Dodge

So you have to find the best balance for yourself.

Generally, the preferred reforge strategy is to go with Mastery Expertise and Crit
I chose something more unorthodox for myself and am going with Expertise Hit and Dodge.. you can probably guess why!
Hit Cap.
Gem Agility.
Reforge Mastery.

Have 2 helms to switch out metas.
Have 2 sets of trinkets.

hello

I dont like the way Rdruids are being treated. The healz suck even when you are fully stacked with Ruthless and how Squishy they are when you have 4200 resil thats bull it takes one Dk and a Rogue or a Ret paladin to kill me on my Rdruid. The healing touch is to slow rShaman Healing touch is like a Regrowth cast also the way you set up the ugly Broccoli form/ Tree of life was horrible I think it should be like Wrath MAKE US GOOD AGAIN
You're only as good as how much effort you put in.
I like how you think bro but still

Question, New to Bear/Cat.

Fellow Druids , i'm almost cap at 2k valor what piece or pieces can be the first to upgrade? all help and advice will be awesome. And in other note planning on making my old bear tanking gear to cat gear .
I was planning to upgrade my helm first, which is 2200 VP. You might also consider converting the valor to conquest for the neck of prowess which is supposedly BiS according to theincbear.com, though I was just going to go with the honor one myself.

EDIT: VP belt is also supposedly BiS and offers the same ilvl upgrade over the helm, not sure which offers the most upgrade per VP.
Depends on what you want to prioritise.

Bear: Get the Helm first - but you can buy the relic first too, as you'll still get the helm the same week.
Cat: Get the trinket.
yep , im using mr robot and it say riplimb's is BiS, which im planning on grab if it drop this sat in our alt FL run. just wanna upgrade accordingly. and if Mr.is correct i gonna need 11,200 VP to get all my goodies :/.
but the helm is 2200 and the relic is 700
and i get cap at 2k

How good are feral druids at soloing?

As the title reads, How good are feral druids when it comes to solo? How do they stack up to classes such as hunters, locks, paladins and such? And I mean at lvl 85 like soloing old runs, not leveling.

better then anything but a blood dk.

http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/1045507-4.3-Edition-The-Druid-Soloing-Guide
As a tank who gets to stealth by copious amount of instance trash how do you think they are?

Did I mention they've got heals?

Seriously though, the stealth aspect is near unbeatable...not having to fight through every inch of trash to target specific bosses. Prot Pallies and Blood DKs might get a bit more longevity from more consistent heals over longer periods of time, but they also have to slog their way through so much more just to make the attempts.
Awsome
When I get bored I farm mounts solo. I need to swap out my resto spec (stupid in this patch) for feral again so I can do more runs. So far I have the Deathcharger from Stathhome, the Raven Lord from Sethekk and the White Hawkstrider from Magistar's Terrace.
Hrm, I get bored every once in a while.

So far I've got any 5 man before wotlk (trying them next), mc, old za/zg (too bad they took 'em out), aq20//40 (up to twins :-/), kara, mag, gruuk's (including high death coil.. I mean king), ssc to vasjh (taking boomkin gear/spec next time I try), anything bt after first boss but before bloodboil boss and souls, tk to kael (good dk can do cause of on use magic mitigation).

Good thing about feral, u can faceroll as cat and gather/swipe most trash.

Anyways, pointers:
Wasp boss in aq, take a boomkin spec/gear or prepare to spend a lot of time with bear is/mf.
kara, netherspite, take green beam the whole time; chess is half luck half preparing your pieces at start
High king at gruul's lair, have to burn either lock or healer first/second, spam heal/death coil makes short work of bears.
vasjh is un-feralable solo right now as far as I know.
think first boss in bt has a very high dps req so u don't get spined, souls spam disorients.
kael in tk might be a stretch, got him to 80 percent using a instance wide spread of his adds, but pyroblast hurts.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dwj27Ki6t5s
That good^ :D

(yes, I'm bragging, deal with it!)

I finally had a chance to review this guide. This is excellent stuff.

My To-Do list just got much longer

starfall reset on lunar suggestions

you know whats annoying and i wish blizz would do something about this, after using starfall for your 1st lunar then race over to solor, then a few seconds lader you back in lunar with starfall still on CD..... i wish it would instantly reset starfall everytime you get into lunar, im sure it would make up for the lack of balance dps when it comes to single target.
MOP will fix it.
What Cyous said. What you propose is hapening in MoP.
Glyph of Starsurge.
Glyph of Starsurge.

That my friend, is what this glyph is for. Only time your starfall possibly won't be off CD is during a lust phase, otherwise it will be avail. every time.

Resto druid gear and spec check plz PVP

im not sure if putting resil in was a good idea, im not sure if my specc is right, Can u help me out plz?!

And would YOU use a natures swiftness on a cyclone than a healingtouch when ur being focus down>?
depends ... i'd say use NS cyclone as form of self peels when being trained or offensively

A few things:

  • I assume you are aware of missing head/shoulder PvP enchants.
  • Stamina is pretty bad, just gem pure resil and ignore the belt/glove bonus if you want to go that route.
  • Never gem a secondary stat like spirit over intellect. Intellect is more SP, more crit, more mana, and more regen (via talents).
  • Gemming is largely preferential and situational. I prefer to stack intellect for general ladder play with the comps I run, but there is nothing wrong with gemming resilience.

Defensive NS clones are also pretty situational. For example, you may not want to NS clone a target with trinket. This is something you'll probably get a feel for as you play.

With regard to your spec, there are a few glaring issues. Most people spec either 9/1/31 (like me) or 7/3/31 (with points from Genesis moved to Furor). BotG, Perseverance, and Nature's Ward are all optional. You should absolutely not spec Empowered Touch in arena as lifebloom is one of your biggest burst heals and you generally don't want it to be refreshed on Regrowth (when you probably need it most).

You are also missing two essential glyphs: Lifebloom (Regrowth is awful) and Barkskin (this glyph is arguably better than Barkskin itself).

spell steal, lifebloom and pvp.

Prettymuch, for a balance druid and in many cases a resto druid to be competitive in pvp lifebloom has become crucial. Although when a mage is able to steal a healing buff it becomes OP, in a sense that there is no hope for a druid in pvp with a mage around. Imo lifebloom should be immune to spellsteal and spellsteal only, purge works out fine and spellsteal vs other buffs is almost useless considering there are many classes now that can purge a buff, although for a mage to spell steal druid hots its like giving the enemy team a +1 to the number of healers they have.

Im not proposing spell steal be changed in any way, just for druid hots to be immune to them. This change gives druids the reliefe they need in any pvp senario vs a mage without nerfing a 'skilled' mages spell in such a way that mages become useless.

Anyone else agree?
Deleted by Juvencus
LB being stolen is a 9k heal for almost no cost, spammable.

It's pretty damn nice to have them "steal" it
Spell steal does not cause LB to bloom, thats the problem with druids though, and really... what can i do to better time a 'buff' that will bloom after 7 secs? sit behind a piller and not assist my team?
A spell stolen lifebloom does not bloom. And spam dispelling lifebloom is less healing than keeping your regular HoTs up. Lifebloom should really get a big bloom buff.

Mini Tranq

Its like a rainstorm for my spudding feet!

(Hint, pop treeform and tranq)
Seems to be only bugged for Night Elves. Just had a worgen try it :<

Skull Bash

Was in arena tonight and it would seem that sometimes my skull bash wouldnt hit. Ii would be on cd but the target wouldnt get the debuff, has anyone else had this happen recently? I know there was a bug a while back that would dc you if you tried it while rooted.

i havent noticed that since 4.3 but im pretty accustomed to kicking from at least 8-10 yards max because if you kick from any further itll most likely bug out.
It happened twice, once in the Ruins arena when i was on the grave in the middle and the target was on the side of it next to the pillar, so i ran over while he was in mid cast and hit it and the sound went off got the cd but no debuff no silence and i ended up having to maim to interrupt.

2nd time was in Org arena and this was worse because there was nothing in the way the big pillar went up and we both jumped off it and landed right in front, he fake cast twice then i hit it and again it went off and got the sound and cd but nothing.

Edit* Both times was in their face, i dont usually jump out to SB only if i need to silence a non kill target.

what spec for pvp?

ive been gone for quite a while from W.O.W but now i have returned! and wondering what spec to go with when it comes to pvp, specifically arena 2s. can someone help me i dont want to have to lower hand in pvp with the wrong spec. so whats it gunna be? feral?, boomkin? or resto? please reply thank you!
id say feral or resto... boomy isnt that great in pvp
feral.

resto has a hard time countering the extreme burst dmg this season.
Feral has a guide, too. :)

Dear Blizzard

Since the game is always changing, and you allow things that you used to not allow.....

Can druids please get Noggenfogger back in feral forms?

Thank you
They've gone out of their way to make sure that druids can't use costume effects over top of forms. The potion of illusion was nerfed twice since 4.2. Once to make shapeshifting clear the buff, and once more to make it so that the potion cannot be used while in druid forms. Period.

They're not interested currently in letting you hide your forms.
ok horde need blood elf druids than. I'm tired of being ugly.

Mangle debuff still disappearing!

Good afternoon all,

So anyway still having problem with the mangle debuff disappearing. I am in 5M groups and there are close to no debuffs on the boss yet the mangle debuff keeps on dropping off. Why is it, I focus the boss check all the debuffs and do not see anything that would cause mangle to drop off like that.

Are my bleeds still getting the buff from mangle? is another debuff that doesnt show on my UI causing mangle to drop off? Very frustrating when you want to ensure you are getting the most dps out of your bleeds and damage.

There might be another class/spec in your group who has an ability that puts on a debuff exactly the same. I know warriors have one such ability. Not sure 'bout the other classes though.
do these debuffs still give an increase in DPS on our bleeds?
Yup, i've had no prob getting the bleed increase from these debuffs aswell.
what debuffs cancel out mangle?

cause I still see hardly anything on the boss and mangle still drops off
other players debuffs/ dots arent showing up on your ui. Affects such as bloodfrenzy - Arms warrior and hemo - rouges do the samething as mangle. oh yeah and some hunter pets have it too.
Not completley sure about all the abilities that give out a similar debuff, i'm pretty sure warriors have one, rogues should have one, not completley sure. Might wanna ask some friends who play other classes if they have a similar debuff applying ability.

Edit: Post above beat me to it.
There used to be a bug where hemo and one of the hunter pets bleed debuff overrides mangle but does not buff shred, anyone knows if that has been fixed?
I'm pretty sure it was fixed, i've had no problems getting shred bonus while in group with hunters/rogues.
I tested hunter pets recently and it was fixed.
If you have an Arms Warrior in your group, they have a debuff called Trauma that lasts a minute (just like Mangle) and will override it if applied after Mangle. The bonus is the same (30% extra Bleed damage) and is applied every time they use Mortal Strike (4.5s).

It's not a big deal; if it's being overridden, the other class is appropriately providing it. Possibly even passively.
Going by what you've posted "close to no debuffs on the boss" I have a feeling you're being affected by the same bug that I am. When I log out and then in on any character it for some reason resets the option "show all enemy debuffs". By resets I mean it's still checked but not working. Just uncheck it then recheck it and then look for the debuffs that were mentioned above.
Are you tracking this debuff with Power Auras, per chance?

+bleed dmg buffs are applied by the following:
druid: Mangle (Bear) / Mangle (Cat)
huner: Stampede: Rhino ability
warrior: Trauma
rogue: Hemorrhage

Add "Tendon Rip" and "Gore" to the hunter pet abilities. Hyena and Boar respectively.
Since the hunter pet abilities are all short duration (15s for non-rhino, 30s for rhino), they shouldn't overwrite any of the others unless they drop low on time.
theres an option now to make it so only your debuffs appear, so when you apply it and it vanishes, someone else just applied it
The only one i am seeing is the sunder armour, and the raised bloody hand icon with an eye in the middle obviously a warrior debuff (tank) but i didnt highlight it to see if it is one of these.

would be nice to know our bleeds are still being buffed by a mangle or mangle like effect.

but like i said bugger all debuffs on the boss but mangle keeps on disappearing

[Suggestion] Glyph of Lightspeed (starfire)

When using this glyph:

During Lunar Eclipse, your Starfire now has its cast time reduced by 0.6 seconds, but only benefits from half of your mastery.

What do you think of this suggestion for an optional glyph? This would mainly be for PvP
would have definite uses.
That would be welcome, though I think I'd still rather have something closer to shamans unleashed lightning, making us a little more movement friendly. It's not really the cast time itself so much as needing to plant our feet to do any significant DPS that I think hurts us a bit in PvP and PvE. Mobility tends to be hand in hand with survival, or else the melee classes just chew you up.
Why not make it so it has a chance to be instant instead and makes it act as if your in mastery. (Aka the old Moonkin 4 Piece Vengence).

Boomkin spec/gear evaluation

new to boomkin, this is the best gear that i have access to at the moment. any suggestions regarding reforging/spec/what to get next/gemming/etc? thanks.

also here's some parses if anyone could look into them and let me know if i should change anything http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-e16ffelm3mqw5077/
I would recommend straight Brilliant gems in the chest and pants, and lavawalker on boots(and peerless stats but wait til you have the boomkin tier piece before grabbing that). As for upgrades, you need 4p T12 right away which should be easy seeing that you have the head and shoulders already.

Spec looks fine, just remember to take focus out on fights where you can't guarantee being within 20yds.

Logs look fine, you are just really being hurt with all the pvp gear and lack of 4p T12.
thanks for the feedback, any other feedback is also appreciated!
Oh, almost forgot, too much hit. Try going to wowreforge.com and plugging yourself in with the hit cap set to 1742 after making the gemming changes. That way you won't have wasted points on excessive hit.
your gear is holding you back, but even still I think you can improve your NG uptime. work on moving back and forth between eclipses as fast as humanly possible. Getting your 4set will help with that.

also based on your logs it looks like you not taking as much advantage of the solar side of eclipse as you could, solar eclipse should ideally have a higher uptime.

Druid Add-ons

Hey folks,

I was wondering what Bears and Kitties were using for add-ons.

I have DroodFocus, which I think is great. It has all my stacks, my health, the bosses health, and warns me if the mobs spell is intruptable.

But it has not been updated since 4.2 and there is a few know issues with it, such as the announcement that I intrupt the spell - serrota kick [14522s4askdfesers] instead of the name of the spell.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks.
RSA - Raeli's Spell Announcer is a good replacement for the kick announce. (It can also announce pretty much any other cooldown too)

I use ForteXorcist to track DoTs, trinket procs, ect.
Purge is another announcer for kicks / dispells / etc.

ElvUI has it's own buff / debuff tracking, but it's a complete UI replacement, so that may be a bit overkill. :P

Add ons for managing bleeds?

Any one have any Add ons that help keep track of your bleed durations?
drood focus

http://www.curse.com/addons/wow/droodfocus
I like PlateBuffs, because I am prone to multi-bleeding, and DroodFocus only deals with bleeds on whatever your target is (I think?). Though, DroodFocus deals with CPs and a couple of other things as well, whereas PlateBuffs does not.

PlateBuffs puts up icons with timers above enemy nameplates. (Though, if you have multiple mobs with the same name, you'll have to mouse over them at least once if you use an AOE ability like like Demo Roar or Thrash or something.)
needtoknow
I use ForteXorcist.
Thank you, Taswind and Myrddin helpful as always, My only real druid problem left is figuring out how to prevent being stuck in caster form if you hit a button one to many times
Right now i'm using

#showtooltip
/cancelform
/cast Cat Form

Problem is if i hit the button just one to many times bam i'm in caster form :c
You could try:

/cast !Cat Form

or

/cast [noform:3] Cat Form

or quite a few others.

Fluid Death + Wrath or Resolve?

So apparently i'm the luckiest bastard on the planet and got both trinkets and Kiril on my first madness clear. should i use Fluid Death + Wrath for the mad agi or Wrath + Resolve?
this is for tanking obviously
bump?
Wrath and Resolve, of course.
the dodge rating beats the agi and ~120 dodge i get from FD?
Yep

What do you do when being focused?

I dusted off my boomy over the weekend and did some BGs. While it's still in 371 gear I found myself doing pretty well, doing at least 4-5mil damage each game and usually first or second on the charts. (Who cares right?)

What I think I could get better at is knowing what to do when I'm being focused?

I can cast FF, Insect and Moonfire on the go, but Natures Grasp/Roots only gives me time for one Starsurge or Wrath. Right now I kinda Moonfire spam and hope to get an instant Starsurge, but I feel like I could be doing something better.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
I play Feral, so your mileage may vary.

Bear Form(if I'm not already there), Barkskin(because it works pretty much regardless of your CC state), then Survival Instincts, Frenzied Regeneration(unglyphed, unless you have a dedicated healer), and then try to get out of the area.

I guess the only ones that work for you are Bear Form, Barkskin, then FR. You could also use Demoralizing Roar, as that decreases the damage output of your enemies, and I'm a Tauren, so I sometimes will stand still long enough to use Warstomp, because that can stun up to five players in melee range, which is a good distraction, at least.

Do you have the self buff that makes any melee attack root the attacker(3 charges)? Nature's Grace?
Thanks for the response. I'm talking about Balance play primarily. I'm aware of the defensive cooldowns we have- I just don't know what to do damage/cc wise when melee is on me.

Is moonfire spam the right idea?
Bump
If I see them coming I use that spell that roots them when they hit me, barkskin when I get stunned, travel form away if I can, and spam moonfire when I can, starsurge if it procs.

If I don't see them coming I just wait to die.

What I think I could get better at is knowing what to do when I'm being focused?

.

barkskin, typhoon, roots, run away with nature's grasp up. dont forget switching in and out of moonkin will break roots.

other than that boomys dont have much in the way of defense.
I have Moonkin Form bound to "Q" -- Really, the only thing you can do is pop Stampeding Roar, and powershift Moonkin Form and hope for the best.

I don't trust my rocket boosts because they fail every other time I use them. A blue may search my combat logs and confirm this, because it's true. :(
Laying down a shroom trail behind you can buy you at least a few seconds and don't forget to hibernate other druids, shamans or even particularly annoying hunter pets. Using Soothe on warriors and big red hunters can be worth it and using solar beam on death knights can lower some of their damage as well.

Other than that spam moonkin form out of snares and run away. Bear form bash and regen if you have to and try to get some HoTs on yourself as you move.
If I am being attacked... yes I spam alot of moonfire, throw out HOTs, but I spend the majority of the time powershifting to get out of roots/snares..

check up on Feral Druid

hello

I'm asking for some people to check over this druid..please thanks..give feedback thanks
Your spec is a little goofy, if you're going for a PvP/PvE hybrid that's fine, but if you're trying to specialize as a Cat it's wrong. You don't need Infected Wounds, or Brutal Impact, Furor should be 3/3 with some of those points, last floating point of those 3 into Perseverance.

Gemming is a bit odd, you shouldn't have a Stam gem in your helm if you're a Cat, should be an Agile Shadowspirit Diamond.

Your shoulders should be double socketed +40 Agility gems, Cape should have +22 Agility ( it's a wrath enchant ) as well as a +40 Agility gem.

Gloves should have a +40 Agility gem, and 65 Mastery enchant.

Belt should have a socket and +40 Agility gem.

Legs should have a 20/20 Agility/Hit purple gem instead of the +40 Hit gem currently in there.

Boots should have a 20/20 Agility/Haste or Agility/Mastery gem in the yellow socket instead of a +40 Mastery.
in addition to what was said above, your relic should have a 40 agi gem and your boots should get 35 agi enchant and your helm currently has no enchant.

you have an obscene amount of expertise, 26 is the cap and you dont necessarily need to have it capped. so 37 is way too much.
i would recommend reforging your crit and expertise into hit, haste, or mastery
thank you!! ok i get on it

Transmorg gear

Hey guys just wondering what Transmorg gear are you guys going to be wearing in 4.3?
Well as it turns out, the tier I was PLANNING to use, just about every Druid is using.

Still, I plan to stick with t7 with t8 helm and the Intensity staff from Ignis. All crecent moon-esque
My heart just broke when I just found out that transmogging Sandrene's Invisible Vest wasn't going to be permitted...I've been saving that vest for months!

Antler Helmet/No shirt = Horned Nature God!

Curse you, Blizz...I demand service without a shirt!
This will be one of the most overused sets for druids, I'm sure.
Created my own based on a color theme:

http://i449.photobucket.com/albums/qq213/joequinones/WoW/61423238-profilemain.jpg

T11 Normal Helm, though I will probably have it hidden most of the time, can't miss seeing my NIGHT ELF MOHAWK, and currently trying to find a Tailor that can make me a Blue Workman's Shirt.

Curse you, Blizz...I demand service without a shirt!

I want mah antlers ..well I got them I just need the chest piece

and being a female nelf I am not going shirtless!!
I'm just going to wear T1 : /

Can't decide between Staff of the Verdant Circle or Terestian's Stranglestaff for my weapon
I think I'm going to wear full T7.5 and use Light's Justice as my main hand.

I'm also considering T4 and T8.5 but I think I like T7.5 the best.
Malorne set from BC, vanilla PvP gear. The only good looking sets.
Oh god. I don't know. I'm not too psyched about the new Tier. It looks like that stuff should drop of heroic bosses.
Doesn't matter. In combat no one can see what I'm wearing anyway T_T.
So far I am planning on the eyepatch and the invisible shirt... not really sure what else. Just wish I could hide shoulders.

Either way, I am in Moonkin 90% of the times so I really don't care. Rather stare at my floppy Moonkin butt.

You can't use the invisible shirt, are you illiterate, or do you just not read?
My post on the PTR forums about Transmog and the shown Enchant, since +130 Agility is horribly hideous on any set that isn't green.

http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/3595372999?page=1#0
Just didn't read past the question. I hope by the time you read this you have changed your nappy and are not quite so rage-y.

Then I will be going with the next best thing... one of the basic black vests I have collected.

(Gotta love angry nerds.)
I love how you can perceive my emotions from simple plain text, I've always been amused by people with this extraordinary skill, you must teach it to me sometime.
Wanna cuddle? Mama Moonkin can make it all better!
I can't stand any druid gear (although I like the class) so I simply went with this:

has been what I'm thinking.

Is this haste trinket better than int trinkets out of FL? How's it rank?

Frenzied regeneration macro help?

Can anyone help me with a frenzied regeneration macro that i can spam so it doesn't take me out of bear form after frenzied regeneration?

Ive tried like

/cast bear form
/cast frenzied regeneration

but it just makes me go out of bear form after i spam it like 10 times, its just to hard for me to click it 2 times while im in an arena (btw im feral cat pvp)
/cast !bear form
/cast frenzied regeneration

should work. If not there are some fancy things you can do with stances.
/cast !bear form

If the above doesn't work.

/cast [nostance:1] Bear Form
/cast Frenzied Regeneration
/cast !bear form
/cast frenzied regeneration

Not entirely sure that it works, as /cast !bear form will still briefly shift you to caster, so you might lose the buff.

If it doesn't work, the following should:

/cast [nostance:1] !Bear Form
/cast Frenzied Regeneration

edit: darn, beaten by 52 seconds

yea, the !Bear Form on it's own won't work (that's actually what my base shifting macros are).

but the stance conditional will do it for ya.
^ What they said although I'm babied by my mouse binds all my forms are bound to mouse keys and my cooldowns bound to very accessible buttons near awsd and I can generally be bear w FR up faster than using a macro.

Interesting. I wasn't sure if it would or not, but /cast !Tree of Life is what you use for tree form spamming, so it doesn't shift you back out. Wonder why it works there and not for the other forms.

oh that is interesting. i'm actually surprised that works correctly.

basically the ! means "don't do this if it won't work". so, if there is something that would prevent me from shifting into bear form (let's say i was stunned). then the !Bear Form macro wouldn't fire ('course, there are fail cases, but they are caused by latency, the game doesn't know i'm stunned when it processes the first part of my command).

for !Tree of Life, because it's a cooldown, you can't return to it, thus, it'll only fire once.

Aha! makes sense. Learned something new today.
#showtooltip
/use Fel Healthstone
/cast [stance:1] Enrage(Bear Form); !Bear Form(Shapeshift)
/cast [stance:1] Frenzied Regeneration(Bear Form)

that's what I use. If you are in bear form, it uses FR. If you aren't in bear form, it shifts you to it and then uses FR with another press of the key.

Boomkins too low on dps.

So, I've been looking at Simcraft lately and comparing my possibly dps on a patchwerk fight to other dps classes in my guild of equal gear on a patchwerk fight and I've got to say, I'm pretty disappointed in boomkin's possible dps output.

Currently Simcraft tells me I'm roughly 4-6k dps behind other classes (Hunters Rogues Shamans Paladins, etc) of equal gear. Now, whether you think Simcraft is flawed or not, it's pretty spot on with my raid's dps at the moment.

Now I come to the point of this thread. Balance druids need a buff, plain and simple.

I understand that there are problems with buffing a class and having it balance for both pvp and pve, but currently there aren't many boomkins in pvp either. Meaning there needs to be a slight buff to both sides.

My thoughts are modifying the mastery. Instead of 2.0% per point it can be raised to 2.25% or 2.35%, thus increasing eclipse damage by ~5%. If this seems to wide of a buff (which is really isnt in the long run) however it may bridge the 5k dps gap.

Any other ideas for a buff to bridge the dps gap between Balance druids and other dps are welcome. The more ideas the better, maybe we'll get our voices heard.

Iv found that its very hard to stay on par with other classes DPS without being able to keep up more than one moonfire or insect swarm, sure this is from a PVP prospective, but most classes seem to have a good amount of burst at the push of a button whereas with boomkin i need that wrath starsurge combo to put out some good damage, and even then its not the best without crits, no crits and the ultimate combo i might be able to get out 25-30k with wrath+starsurge +if you add the damage from starfall and a tick from MF and IS it might total to about 36k.
If you buy the resto tier chest, you can close the gap by about 1-3k (depending on how well you play).

Boomkins scale incredibly well with gear, DS isn't a favorable boss list for us (lots of single target). We're not terrible, we're just not as good as a lot of the other dps speccs for the majority of encounters this tier.
Balance needs to be looked at , definitely.

In PvE single target my DPS is horrid compared to others, in PvP good luck trying to get any damage done if you're being focused.

I think what's hurting us so much is that time when you're not in an Eclipse. I thought being in an Eclipse would boost our damage, not make us do what other classes are doing without such mechanics. When other classes DPS they don't have to be in a certain state to do comparable DPS to other classes while Balance Druids need to.

I like the Eclipse mechanic but it needs to be a DPS increase when we hit it, not just making our damage like everyone else'.

But good luck with that changing. When it was brought up in Blizzcon one of the developers just told the guy to reroll...
I dont think this is something that will be fixed. Why would they take time to rebalance us just so that they can rebalance us again in the MoP patch? Beta is imminent if mmochamp is right, so we'll have to hope that the redesign on our talents gives us that push we need.

Rather than change any mechanics they could just give us a numbers sweep, but tbh I really dont see them doing that, as those kinds of things rock the boat. Look at how much a 17% fireball buff changed mages. They had to turn around and debuff it by 6% just because with all the factors involved it ended up being significantly more than they thought.
Well the way I see it right now is that Simcraft tells me on a tunneling fight, I should do 37k. I do 35-36k depending on slight movement. So it seems pretty close but I dont necessarily think dragon soul is rough on boomkins. I just dont scale as well as other classes. My problem is that everyone I've run through sim is nearly spot on with their dps. The gap is just still there. I may close the gap a little when i get a few more pieces but I doubt it will close it by that much. I'll just have to wait and see.

I still believe a slight alteration in mastery could help out tremendously. I'll probably either stop complaining about balance dps when I get the heroic Lightning rod and 410 resto chest or make even more threads. Only time will tell. But for the moment, I see a large dps gap and would like to see it closed. The 10% starsurge damage just wasn't doing it. I shouldn't have to have a haste cap crutch to be up to par (and still lower in damage) with the other dps in my raid.
I'm fairly convinced at this point that Blizzard has balanced moonkin around having the legendary staff. Moonkin without the legendary are just going to do crappy damage until Mists of Pandaria. /hates legendaries 'cause I don't have one.

Also the simmed numbers for stand-still fights don't mean as much as the practical numbers (that will be a lot lower due to movement) in real fights.

Balance druids and the legendary staff quest.

Was wondering if any of you have collected all of your shards yet and have attempted or completed the following quest.

There's a warlock in my guild working on it right now and he's have a lot of trouble. Apparently it requires and offensive dispel and interrupts.

So where does that leave us?

We can interrupt twice a minute between solar beam and skull bash if we are lucky enough to be in melee range. And we have no offensive dispel.

warlock's felhunter can dispel and interrupt, but i don't know about the balance druid
I found a video of a Boomkin doign it if anybody was interested.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VojDJqPyONI

Couldn't really tell how he delt with the heal. Solar beam must be enough.
Not particularly difficult. Trap the add until the flame breath channel, then run from the flame breath while killing the add. Back to dragon. Interrupt what you can, apply your HoTs while running around.
Videos (not of me!):

Great guide for the whole quest line:

http://www.icy-veins.com/dragonwrath-legendary-staff-quest-line

For interrupts, I assume you mean the guys you fight on the platforms? I used solar beam when it was up, but mostly I found it wasn't necessary. You can just use the shields on the edges of the big platforms.

The only bit of the instance that was difficult is the last encounter. For that, just make sure you're keeping hots on yourself the whole time, and DoTs on the main guy. I tried CCing the adds, but found it was easier just to kill them as they came out. You can knock them back and use starfall when they come out.
When I finally get to this I was contemplating going bear for it.
Here's what I did:

You pretty much make it through the instance as normal, but when you get to the dragon, you need to realize that you can actually out range him. He'll stay up on the platform not doing much and you can actually run over to the area where the floating discs are and then off into a corner to take out adds for a while and regen/heal. From there it's a lot of guerrilla tactics and makes this whole ordeal very easy to control. The dragon never resets HP and will pretty much wait around there for you to get back.
Well damn am I the only moonkin in existence whose guild didn't choose them to get the staff? I am literally last in line.
No you are not I am too 2 people are ahead of me :( pretty sure by the time it's my turn the guild will break up and leave me hanging XD

but thats some good advice I will never use lol

But good luck to all of you that are on the quest and doing it :D
I just ran around hotting myself, dotting the dragon, popping starfall. I never even got into moonkin form. I think I could've done it in resto spec, probably be easier too.
I'm the second in my group to try it. Our mage did it first and basically gave up on it. This forum is very helpful, thanks. I broke my gear trying it over and over the past few days. I found it terribly frustrating, but only because I didn't understand what to expect.

While I do agree that it should be a great challenge, I think the repeated collecting of materials should be nixed. As it stands I am not even sure if we will raid FL enough times before the next raids come along, and drumming up a pug to go back will be even more of a drag, especially if we are rolling on any of the legendary quest items.

yea... I pretty much went kitty for pretty much the entire part of the quest and it was sooo easy... for the last boss however, I have to go boomkin again becasue of range issues... play around with your glyphs, decrease the CD on Typhoon and the solar beam glyph and that was enough. I did struggle with the last boss but after I played around with my glyphs, I found it sooooo easy. Once you actually do finish it you will look back and think "Why did I struggle so much??"

Since it's already at the top of the page...

Big, fat necro. If you look at OP's armory, they already have their 391 version.

There are a number of postings that describe this encounter, which should be relatively easy to find. This post offers some high level guidance to boomkins seeking to defeat Thyranir, the final boss in this part of the quest chain - though I think the advice is generally applicable to most classes.

I think it is fair to say that the majority of WoW players would have a hard time unless their gear was significantly higher than i378, though specific classes like Mages will have a much easier time than others such as Warlocks or Druids. Of course, most WoW players are not going to be anointed by their raid to receive the required 25 eternal embers - so a certain amount of proficiency is assumed.

I recommend thinking through this encounter carefully and respec, re-gear, re-glyph, and redo your tool bar / key bindings to better deal with the challenges of this quest. The trick is smart movement along with the ability to self-heal and CC the boss and adds - all while being able to damage the boss and burn down the adds.

Prior to this quest chain, I had my interface and abilities optimized for PvE raiding as a boomkin or healz. Unfortunately, I found I needed both capabilities for this quest at the same time. So, I respecced as boomkin and focused on DOT and HOT talents and glyphs - switching forms during fights (moonkin form and caster) as needed.

Actually, the biggest change for me was redesigning my toolbars and bound keys. I found that I needed to seamlessly HOT myself, apply DOTs, and CC at any given time to adapt to the environment. Clearly, this is not needed in the vast majority of PvE encounters and hence my original set of toolbars / bound keys were not set up to do execute those abilities at the same time efficiently. So switching was a bit painful and I practiced on the target dummies and some elites in Twilight Highlands once I determined the final boss was way harder than I expected.

One final note - once I tuned my toon for the final boss, I successfully 1-shotted him though the fight seemed to last forever (probably a dozen adds). However, getting to the boss was much more painful in my new spec than during my initial attempt with my standard boomkin raiding setup. Perhaps that was just the learning curve for my new user interface.

Good luck!
